Thank you for posting this! I am a double demi (demiromantic and demisexual) lesbian and it's exhausting when people think my demi identities just mean choosing to wait. I have no initial interest in anybody except for the few times I got really close to someone. Not a choice just a lack of interest

That's what a lot of allos don't understand. It's not a choice and we don't always know when attraction will happen. I am sorry your ex was not as understanding.

Yes, people think demisexuals just have high standards or are just waiting to have sex. That's not what it means?? It means we don't experience primary sexual attraction. It must really be hard for demi men because men are twice as expected to feel primary sexual attraction.

The comments I see from allo people about ace/demi men is so disgusting. They think men always want sex no matter what which is also a consent issue. You all are not broken. It's perfectly okay to not feel sexual attraction (or to not feel it in a normative way in the case of grays).

For #aceweek, I would like people to know that demisexuals are ace-spec. I have only liked two people (that I knew for two years before attraction started) in my entire life. Outside of that, I don't really get attraction and have always felt out of place. Why shouldn't I count as ace then?

This is great that you are bringing more awareness to this issue! Even though I'm a woman, I do want men to feel welcome in the ace/demi community as well. It's harder for them to realize they are ace or ace-spec which makes it even more important to find community.
