This is nothing more than a continuation of the president’s desperate weaponization of our justice system.

I am not fearful — I am fearless.

We will fight these baseless charges aggressively, and my office will continue to fiercely protect New Yorkers and their rights..

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

I love that he keeps proving other Democrats wrong about trans and socialist policies being unelectable, while he gains more popularity than any of them

Reminds me of a quote that has lived rent-free in my head for 8+ years & counting:

"We lost an entire generation of people [of color] due to deaths and incarceration. I guess the 'crackheads' didn't need help, but these hipster junkies deserve our sympathy."

It’s wild how words change depending on who’s affected.

When drugs hit Black communities, it was a “crack epidemic.”

When drugs hit white communities, it became a “health crisis.”

That’s what we call a dog whistle. The language changes when the skin color does.

Today my daughter's preschool is holding a farewell assembly for one of her classmates whose mother has no choice but to self deport. The school is hoping it will be joyful in tone, so we might make this less upsetting for this 3 year old.

There's just no words for the uselessness of this cruelty.

Black history is taught like:
Lincoln freed the slaves. Somehow about a century passed and Rosa Parks wanted a better seat on a bus. There were some bus and lunch counter protests. MLK had a dream. Then everything was equal forever.

Problems solved. 🙄

If you all would have included truthful Black History as part of American History, you wouldn't be so "shocked" by what is happening right now. In fact, what is happening now likely wouldn't be happening because you would have been able to see it coming with knowledge of history.

Black folks have seen all this before. The late-night attacks by masked men, the disappearances of people, the demands for "papers", the racial profiling, the beatings, the unarmed getting shot. Yup. We've been fighting white folks like ICE for 400+ years.

English, Anthropology, Sociology... removing these options for the majority would of course help the class war substantially, by preventing most people from learning more in understanding and appreciating the real diversity of humanity, culture and its communication

"Black people are tired. Not metaphorically tired—actually tired. The kind of tired that turns every group chat into a mix of gallows humor and emotional triage."

I write about white ignorance and how exhausting it is to hear white ppl insist "this isn't who we are, when it's ALWAYS who we've been.
White People’s Performative Ignorance Is Exhausting—Opinion
Disbelief over authoritarianism in America isn’t a cutesy personality trait. It’s a confession: You haven’t been paying attention.

Reading book that mentions early detection of COVID-19 in sewage that includes summary of early days of detection, outbreak. Brought me back to those days like a tide and I thought wow, I lived thru that.

And I had this sudden soothing thought:

Someday these days, too, will be in a history book

NEW—US Department of Education sent out standard Out of Office language to employees on Wednesday in light of shutdown. Later yesterday, workers tell me they found someone had updated their auto-responses without consent to a new one blaming Democrats.

Version of original on left, updated on right:
Thank you for your email. There is a temporary shutdown of the U.S. government due to a lapse in appropriations. I will respond to your message as soon as possible after the temporary shutdown ends. Please visit ED.gov for the latest information on the
Department's operational status.
Thank you. Thank you for contacting me. On September 19, 2025, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 5371, a clean continuing resolution. Unfortunately, Democrat Senators are blocking passage of H.R. 5371 in the Senate which has led to a lapse in appropriations. Due to the lapse in appropriations I am currently in furlough status. I will respond to emails once government functions resume.
