Wonder how long it will take them to fix that "bug" or take it down.... If even an AI can figure it out, there's really no excuse for his criminal actions...

Additional information about the tanker seizure. Apparently, the Skipper was spoofing their location data and not reporting it, possibly to avoid sanctions placed on exports of Venezuelan oil during Trump's first presidency.
I absolutely do not condone the US seizure of the Skipper but this BBC piece raises a lot of questions among which is who is the legal owner of the oil? The tanker spoofed its location and id on the regular and transferred oil to and from other vessels on the high seas. www.bbc.com/news/article...
From Iran to China to Venezuela - how seized tanker hid location
A seized tanker accused of smuggling sanctioned oil has long hidden its true location. BBC Verify examines how.

“We have not deported U.S. citizens or military veterans,” she said, & then attempted to dodge when presented with counterexamples, saying "it is not my prerogative, my attitude or my job to pick & choose which laws in this country get enforced".

Love seeing their bullshit called out!

"The officials [...] said the operation was led by the U.S. Coast Guard. They [...] did not say specifically where the interdiction took place.
The [CG] referred questions to the White House, which did not immediately respond to a request for comment."

I will update once I have more info on this.

Even if you've never been on a boat, and never plan on being on a boat.... This still needs to worry you! 80% of the world's goods are transported by boat at some point in the supply chain.

Cargo ships would be impacted by this, and it will then impact our supply of essential goods.

"According to one of the Alligator Alcatraz survivors in the Amnesty report, people were put into the box simply for alerting the guards to someone's need for medication. "They were taken to 'the box' and punished for trying to help me," the person told Amnesty."

This is absolutely criminal.

Interdiction has been part of the CG's mission for decades (since 1971, although really, since Prohibition) without making it the goal to sink boats & kill everyone onboard.

Kinda makes you wonder why the Pentagon couldn't take a lesson from the experts....
Hello, Sen John Thune and whoever it is that controls the GOP House of Reps. Do any of you give a damn?👇👇

Lethal force is the LAST option Coasties want to use. Here to save people, not to kill them.... it's not that hard honestly.

Interdictions like this happen all the time with no loss of life.
Hey, @altcoast.altgov.info, its like everyone forgot the coast guard has done interdictions off the coast of Venezuela for years...

This is from 6 years ago.

This is just one post in a great thread about the whole "ordering another strike on survivors" situation. Please click through for more, and read this excellent article as well.

There's no excuse for firing on shipwrecked survivors. It's a crime. Don't follow illegal orders.

On World AIDS Day I'd like to share this Wikipedia article I wrote about a time that the US government was actually pretty awesome about AIDS, back in 1988.

With the Trump administration's refusal to acknowledge the day, it's astonishing to look at how far we've regressed since the 80s.

Head over to RebelFema's post, our DHS friends over there are dealing with some serious BS right now 🤬

Their whistleblowers were put on leave, then reinstated, then just put BACK on leave.

As far back as during WWII, when vessels were sunk, it was considered illegal to kill survivors in the water. This is a well-established fact with tons of historical backing. It is illegal to kill survivors in the water, period. Even if they're running drugs, as has been claimed.
Bash: "Do you believe if there was a second strike to eliminate any survivors that it constitutes a war crime?"

Mark Kelly: "It seems to."

Bash: "If you received that order, would you have carried it out?"

Mark Kelly: "No…Going after survivors in the water is unlawful."

Just a very basic fact check- "international waters" is NOT permission to kill people. There are global regulations that prevent people from just getting away with murder there. If a US citizen commits murder in international waters, they can still be tried/convicted in the US. It is still illegal.
Sen. Mullin: "We know that the Navy or the Coast Guard picked up survivors already and sent them back to their country."

Bash: "Could that be because a lawyer in the Pentagon said 'you can't do that again'?"

Sen. Mullin: "No…Why do we care if we take them out in international water?"

So I guess a federal order is no longer legally binding if you don't like the judge's politics? Pretty sure that isn't how any of this works...
KARL: Did you know about the judge's order when you issued your order for the planes to continue?

KRISTI NOEM: This is an activist judge. We comply with all federal orders that are lawful and binding.

So... what threat did these two survivors pose that there was a need to strike again?

Lethal force is supposed to be used judiciously- that means, not just because some guy decided that these "drug smugglers" deserve to die.
SCOOP: For the Trump admin's Sept. 2 strike targeting 11 men on a boat suspected of ferrying drugs, SecDef Hegseth gave an order, officials say, to kill them all. When two men were still alive, orders were given to strike again, finishing them off.

(1/5) On this day in 1942, the US Coast Guard Women's Reserve, also known as the SPARs, was created - the name stood for Semper Paratus - Always Ready, the CG's motto. Although not well-known, the SPARs were an important part of the service in WWII!

My years at #NOAA responding to the #Deepwater Horizon disaster—the largest offshore oil spill in U.S. history—left an unforgettable mark on me. That’s why the newly proposed National Outer Continental Shelf #Oil and #Gas Leasing Program is so alarming.
Today, the California coast we cherish and the delicate ocean ecosystems just beyond it face a renewed threat from offshore drilling. We oppose the Trump Administration’s 5-year oil and gas leasing program and will continue to defend our coastline, wildlife, economy, and health from this threat.

Wanted to respond to this - from what I see, the CG is NOT reversing policy. They released a memo clarifying their prohibition of these symbols. Dealing with violations will still be on the command level, which is what was changed. Please see my thread for more info:
