I am one year into learning Spanish and still pretty disciplined and motivated but the recent "any language other than English is bad" talking point they've been pushing has been filling me with spite to get more study hours in.

They are also intentionally conflating machine-learning and generative AI slop to confuse and try to make GenAI seem necessary. Google Maps traffic stuff is machine learning, not GenAI, for example. Auto-correct is too. Don't let them make you lose the thread. GenAI slop is slop.

Never been a very big/very good poster so when I write a reply that does numbers and I see the 30+ notification when I open this app I'm always just like "oh no." It's like the opposite feeling I felt as a child of the 00's when I opened my MySpace after a family vacation away from a computer.

I watched All The President's Men the other day when Redford died and it was absurd to watch because it could never happen today. No one would care or the regime would just say "yeah we can do that, so that what?" and WaPo would bury the story.

This is why I’m learning Spanish. It’s going to take me years and this regime will probably be gone by the time I get really good at it. But the climate catastrophe isn’t going anywhere and when we receive a flood of refugees these people are going to be chomping at the bit to do Children of Men.

I hate how some transportation people, namely bike people, think the Silicon Valley scooters are the best. I mostly walk and bus and it has made my life hell. Last night I watched scooter hooligans buzz pedestrians for fun in downtown Portland. Shit sucks. Honestly makes me want to drive more.

I got too fat for my cycling rain gear so when I go out in the rain I’ve just worn summer kit and then covered my skin in embrocation cream. Honestly, it kinda works. Probably would work even better with nothing at all.
