Idk tangentially related but the prototypical bi woman is a cishet-passing, normatively feminine gal with a boyfriend, and yes that is a common and PERFECTLY VALID type of person. But I feel like a lot of the discourse around labels low-key assumes that is the only kind of bi gal! Which is weird!!

More Gender Thoughts: so I'm seeing people use "sapphic" and "masc" to mean something similar to "lesbian" and "butch" respectively, but with room for like enbies or gay-leaning bisexuals or whatever.

Anyway, why is there no alternative term for "femme"? Is the alternative just "normal lady"?

Idk if I have like...deep thoughts on this but something that has helped my self-understanding a lot is that Nerd Androgyny and Queer Androgyny are two very different things.

I am married to a same-sex partner but my gender expression is not Queer it is Nerd.

I don't even know what to say about this, except that I spent my twenties doing a PhD and postdoc in math and affinity groups for underrepresented students and scholars were SO NORMAL and unremarkable at the time.

if i've learned one thing from doing union stuff while also doing other forms of organizing, it's that you're better off with people you disagree with who are nevertheless trying to do the same thing as you than with people you agree with who aren't trying to do anything
