Yay we have Twitter again!

...wait.
I think Talarico has a better shot but I'll support either of them when the primary is over

The one solace that I take in all this is that these bastards are all mortal and will one day be rotting in the ground.

Oh hey look it's right there in the bible, too. "For the love of money is the root of all evil." Look at that. So weird.

It’s frankly insulting that the worlds worst people weren’t meeting in a command center in a volcano wearing ceremonial robes but were all emailing on Hotmail accounts like “want 2 atrosity? With wemen?”

Six months without employment is starting to take its toll. I really feel like I'm starting to lose my shit.

Hey you're forgetting they also own a very good charging network for a vehicle segment that...<checks notes> the current administration that Elon Musk helped come to power is openly hostile towards. Hm.

Hoo boy, everyone should bookmark this @parkermolloy.com piece & make sure everyone involved in media reads it.

getting feds to say shit like this on camera with their face exposed is NUTS -- you can not reform this agency, everyone involved must go, there is no practical way to root out all of these guys

More and more these days I'm wondering why we even have a bicameral legislature. Like, what purpose does the Senate currently serve except to give outsized voice to arbitrary borders drawn before most of us were born?

I hate that messaging has to be this dumbed down but you're absolutely right and I wish Democratic leadership would get this through their thick Ivy-league skulls

Succession really was one of the most realistic shows
ABC proactively suspending Kimmel and turning this into a bigger issue is why those execs earn the big bucks. They make the big important dogshit for brains decisions.

To be fair, Ramius was Lithuanian, and maybe a Lithuanian accent sounds kind of like Scottish when speaking Russian.

(Doesn't explain the end of the movie when he's actually speaking English but shh)

I guarantee there are Disney boardrooms and zoom calls full of executives hammering this out right now. But it also really sucks that the future of freedom of speech is going to be determined by executives arguing over if it's better for their bottom line to defend a former Man Show host.
September 18, 2025 at 3:55 PM
How does this benefit or hurt ABC and the Disney corporation? Do they risk a lefty boycott? Risk making enemies with the Trump administration? Do they want the headache of trying to restructure their broadcast operations in a dying medium? Do they give the Trump FCC an inch and let them take a mile?

ABC may have contractual obligations that they can enforce their affiliates to air their programming, but they may not. But that also requires painful and expensive litigation. They might also seek affiliates, but that is risky and carries with it a whole other set of hurt.

So the question is:
September 18, 2025 at 3:55 PM
This is, and I want to be clear, absolutely CHILLING. But is there a 1st amendment violation?

The biggest avenue here for 1A protection is Brendan Carr's actions. But Disney would have to argue that his THREAT was actionable and sue to defend.

Sinclair and Nexstar are just being shitty businesses.
September 18, 2025 at 3:55 PM
- Nexstar, who needs FCC approval to buy Tenga and obtain unprecedented media market ownership, threatens to pull Kimmel and potentially other ABC programming over Kimmel's perceived slight.
- Sinclair, who has always been shitty, does the same

ABC panics and "temporarily" suspends the show.
September 18, 2025 at 3:55 PM
From what I've been able to piece together, reading between the outrage and the actual headlines, here's what actually happened:
- Brendan Carr, FCC Chairman, THREATENED to pull ABC's broadcast license and has been poking at them for a few weeks
September 18, 2025 at 3:55 PM
This whole Jimmy Kimmel debacle is going to boil down to one thing: Does Disney feel it's in their best interest to stand up to the Trump Administration and defend their programming, or not?

People need to stop saying Kimmel was cancelled for specific comments.

He was cancelled because Nexstar need government approval to buy a bunch of TV stations and they’re hoping throwing a talk show host Trump doesn’t like into a volcano will get them approval.

That’s it.
