The trouble with assiduously avoiding spoilers for movies (in this case one from the '70's, ha) is that occasionally I forget what I've preordered and I tell myself things like "a comedy sounds good, let's watch The House of Laughing Windows". It was very entertaining though.

Having dropped my glasses into the Earl Grey pie I was making, I pivoted and made a Nantucket Cranberry Pie (easy and delicious) and a cookie salad with Biscoff as the cookie. It seems like a kissing cousin of ambrosia. Not my favorite thing, but seemed well liked.

I'll be going to my MIL's home for Thanksgiving. Nobody else wants anything other than canned cranberry sauce, so I'll bring that, but tonight I've made Anthony Bourdain's raw cranberry relish, and Mama Stamberg's cranberry relish. If nobody else wants those, more for me.

The grocery store wasn't a madhouse, I found a small buggy, and I got everything on my list. It's too good... WHAT DID I FORGET!!??

My tragacanth ornaments finally have some ribbon to hang them with. One recipe made white ones, the other recipe made slightly ivory colored ones. I'd still like to make more. I'll be interested to see if the one surviving large bat will hold up. I'd like to see more detail, but they did okay.

I got myself up early on my day off and was first in line to get my elderly car's oil changed and whatever other fluids checked. The guy showed me the oil stick like a sommelier presenting a bottle of wine and I nodded like I would know engine oil if we met on the street.

I don't have the good fortune to be a Decorating Gay, or Fashion Gay, but oof a coworker walked in with a bad bleach job and I want to color correct her hair so bad I'm itching.

I received my copy of Saint Drogo today. What a gorgeous, moody, tense story. The scenery (men and area) were beautiful, and the music and sound were captivating. Horror drenched in sunlight is one of my favorite things. I'm looking forward to watching it again with the commentary.

Periodic reminder I have books. You can buy them. Still the only nonfiction book on love, sex, gender, H. P. Lovecraft, and the Mythos he helped create.

I'm working on my closed house party disinvitations. Gonna make myself something tasty, kick back, and watch a movie.

Being negative in the office is frowned upon, so I'm trying to sigh regularly in the hope people will just assume I have breathing issues.

Holy mother of bunnies, Vinca has actually done a retrospective of the whole shebang!
Today marks the UK release* of @tkingfisher.com's latest book Snake-Eater, which (depending on how you define it) is her 50th book of fiction! In honor of this milestone I wanted to do a little retrospective of her 50 books

My housecleaning goal as we rapidly approach the dreaded holiday season is to make it look okay in dim light, enough that I'm not immediately mortified on the off chance someone attempts to visit.

I'm being made to watch Excalibur (1981). I much prefer the Monty Python version. My MP and the Holy Grail quotes are getting mild harrumphs. But! Seeing Richard Bucket (Bouquet) on horseback in armor was a treat.

We love to encourage people to reduce the meat and dairy in their diets, but understand that it can be hard to know where to start, and unfortunately many people are put off by the perceived cost. If you want to try adding more plant-based meals to your life, are some resources to get started! 🧵
