Sometimes knitter, nibbling baker, contrarian, horror fan, cat herder.
Just doing laundry and putting away my spouse's Wanglers.

My tragacanth ornaments finally have some ribbon to hang them with. One recipe made white ones, the other recipe made slightly ivory colored ones. I'd still like to make more. I'll be interested to see if the one surviving large bat will hold up. I'd like to see more detail, but they did okay.

I received my copy of Saint Drogo today. What a gorgeous, moody, tense story. The scenery (men and area) were beautiful, and the music and sound were captivating. Horror drenched in sunlight is one of my favorite things. I'm looking forward to watching it again with the commentary.

I'm working on my closed house party disinvitations. Gonna make myself something tasty, kick back, and watch a movie.

Plaid is an everyday thing, but I like to gussy it up with pins around Halloween. This one is by Jason Limon.

Look at how cozy Frederick is. Be more like Frederick.

Going to an early Halloween neighborhood party, dressed as That Nice Neighbor Nobody Suspected.

Francesca came back up after breakfast to snuggle. After she got belly rubs, she rolled off me and fell asleep again. It's nice to see her rest, she would spend all day playing fetch if we had the time.

Listening to the In Surf Of album by Beach Creeper.

A coworker just saw Chit for the first time and said that he looks like a young Captain Kangaroo and now I can't unsee it.

I've been making some soaps the last few weeks. These are from two batches made a couple weeks ago so they need to cure a little longer before use. Who doesn't enjoy a strawberry scented skull? The Ouija board is violet saffron and doesn't smell the way I expected, but it's nice.

I tried the 2nd of two recipes I've found for tragacanth ornaments this morning. This used cups instead of weights and came out a little better. My tragacanth gum powder and rose water stays liquid instead of becoming gelatinous. I'll change the rose and then try a different brand of the gum.

I watched The Guardian (1990) last night. It was okay. The movie revolves around the character Phil who is a restless sleeper and thankfully only wears lounge pants at night. The subplot about a druid nanny sacrificing babies was less interesting, but her tree was cool.

I started some moonflower vines in early June and finally have a bloom. Woo-hoo! Not sure why these were so reluctant this year.

Yay! Tea delivery day from @fridaytea.com ! I had a lot to choose from and whittled it down to 3. Green Wind I already know & love. Daughters of Darkness will have to wait a bit. I went with Cool, But Rude purely out of vibes. Smoky jalapeno and wintergreen black tea with hibiscus? Tasty.

Vinegar Syndrome has Attack of the Demons as part of their daily out of print sale today. One of my favorites. I love that it's a few people expressing their niche interests. Lots of fun. vinegarsyndrome.com/collections/....

I know this is ridiculous, but I'm being bombarded by political ads and Amy Ashworth kept reminding me of someone, just vaguely. I'm thinking it's Beth Grant circa Donnie Darko days. If she tells us in an ad that she doubts our commitment I'll feel vindicated.

I was up early this morning so I made myself some cowboy dip for breakfast, as one does. And then threw together some šaltibarščiai (Lithuanian cold borscht soup). I may need to thin it down with a little more kefir, but it's tasty.

Is it just me or is there a Wilhem Scream in A Feast for Starving Stone by @bethcato.bsky.social ?? I'm cracking up. "He flopped over the wall with a comedic, undulating yell...". Lovely.

Francesca had a full day of assisting with laundry and playing fetch, so she didn't make it all the way through The Guyver. I really liked The Guyver though, it's goofy and has such cool creature effects.

This morning Francesca provided her assistance with sorting some laundry. We had a few friendly disagreements.

I received my copy of Their Heart a Hive by @foxenlock.bsky.social the other day and look forward to reading it and seeing how it's grown. I really dug the original version featuring a marvelous genderqueer aristocrat and their hive. www.lulu.com/shop/fox-n-l...

Metamorphosis: The Alien Factor is another movie I've seen mentioned here and was tonight's watch. The plot is slight but it was a fun watch. The practical effects are amazing though, and made it worth it. Also, Francesca was enthralled. Two thumbs and a paw up.

I saw a squirrel nibbling jujubes this morning. Jujube bits were flying everywhere, but mostly into the bird bath below the tree. And here I've been blaming the raccoons. Deer are eating my figs. I'm the only one eating the basil at least.

I'm watching Mill of the Stone Women and I'm really into this lovely shawl Selma wears. Semi-circular with a knit-on border? It's reminding me of a pattern I've seen, but can't remember. But it looks like it would be easy to figure out. Maybe?
