The thing we most try to avoid during the mad chaos that is the Trump regime takeover is the mention of our feelings. So many want to write about them but don't know where to start.
I have an idea. #Writing #Politics

Our War on Donald Trump, With Feeling
Of course we feel it. Anyone with human feelings would. A call for submissions.

That $130 million dollar bail-out for the military payroll is peanuts. A hundred dollars per person, at best. No, it’s meant as both a now-standard monetary tribute to Donald Trump, as well as a signal that our military can and will be privatized.

Trump backer Timothy Mellon identified as donor of $130m for US troop pay during government shutdown
Reclusive Republican donor is descendant of gilded aged industrialist and former treasury secretary Andrew Mellon

Someday we're going to laugh at all of this.

Oh, wait... 😆😆😆
Photo passed along from a federal employee from inside the Dept of Labor building, where a giant Orwellian image of Trump's face is now draped outside.

Big Brother is watching.

“The degree to which Russia has milked Trump’s grievances to destroy US capabilities against it is one of the reasons I view the 2016 operation as the most successful intelligence operation of recent history.”

POLITICO compiled a list of all the Washington Post staffers who have left in the past eight months. It’s at least a hundred names, many of them among the biggest names in journalism. This is the fastest erosion of a major outlet ever.
My latest at Constant Commoner. In which the guys in MAGA caps seek to intimidate and instead get laughed at. File under 'glorious moments'.

All Democrats need to do is promote programs that actually help people. The people will respond. They not only will be grateful, they will trust and expect it from Democrats.

Democrats will be known as the party of the people. It's as simple as that.
Democrats must offer bold programs that support American workers and expand opportunities (e.g., subsidized childcare, paid sick leave) and back radical reform to knock oligarchs down to size (e.g., Supreme Court expansion and term limits, financial transparency for politicians, end gerrymandering).
Bluntly, democracy is in rotten shape. Despite heroic lawyering, growing protests, and dogged D opposition, the Trump regime has progressed in its quest to create a police state, seize poser from Congress power and intimidate law firms, universities, and media cos

The Authors Guild congratulates Dr. Carla Hayden on her appointment with the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. After her shocking and unjustified dismissal—a firing we condemned—we're delighted that she has found a new platform from which to continue her vital work.

Voters respond to fighters (e.g., AOC, Pritzker, Booker) who do not hold back in attacking MAGA extremists. Prefer fresher voices expressing righteous anger rather than old fogies acting as if opposition is futile. Favor politicians who pledge dramatic change, not more of the same

But Democrats do have a path to recovery

Last Thursday, at our Good Trouble rally, a woman using a walker was passing out mementoes, courtesy of NoMi, the Michigan Indivisible group.
What could be more thoughtful than a Honey Bee Mix of perennials, to be planted next spring?
It's good to be among the good.

@repsuhas.bsky.social thank you for fighting this Big Ugly Bill for you constituents and all Americans.

This bill will impact Medicare eventually.

That will drive costs up for health insurance premiums for everyone across the board.

THIS BILL TAKES FROM THE POOR AND OLD
IT GIVES TO THE RICH 😠
The Trump Administration wants us to stop talking about the One Big Ugly Bill — but I won't. From stripping those most in need of their health care access to wasting $100 million in taxpayer dollars to move our space shuttle from VA to Texas, everyone can find something to not like about this bill.

I've just added a few more names to my ongoing list of helpers to end fascism and preserve democracy. If you haven't looked at the list, here it is. Please share. We need all the help we can get.
If you have a name for me to add, let me know. Thanks.

"We don’t have time to sort out personalities or to find our perfect place. We’re a crowd now, a formidable crowd, and our main goal is to grow our numbers. We need to become so vast there’s no question about who will be in charge. It won’t be them. It can’t be them."
