🚨THE LAST JEDI IS SCREENING IN LONDON WITH A RIAN JOHNSON INTRO ON 9 OCTOBER 🚨

There are still tickets available for this! It's really gone under the radar, but is probably the event of the year for any London (or even UK) based Reylos - go and snap those tickets up while they're still available!

We’re thrilled to welcome Rian Johnson himself for an extended introduction to the film, screening as part of A Rian Johnson Retrospective at Picturehouse Central. As the Resistance struggles to...

Between this and Legacy, I'm counting down the days until we get Ali or Thea writing a canon Reylo novel.

Star Wars is starting a “genre fiction initiative”. First up is a YA romance called Eyes Like Stars by Ashley Poston

I'm looking forward to playing bingo with this using Reylo fanfiction tropes. We live in interesting times!

New book announcement! It’s a Leia and Rey book set between episodes 8 and 9.

Yeah I think a look at the sequel trilogy from a class lens is a very interesting exercise. I'll keep that in my pocket for a future thread.

Me listening to Jaws of Jakku and hearing Constable Zuvio mentioned:

Unfortunately not - no audience questions or Glass Onion intro, presumably because the event was overrunning.
rachael1918.bsky.social
Yes for sure! It was prompted by Nia remarking on how much she admired Rian for the truthfulness of his depictions of class in his movies, and she specifically name checked The Last Jedi as a good example.
rachael1918.bsky.social
Unfortunately I had to leave before Glass Onion as the event was radically overrunning and I needed to get home before my trains stopped. I'll be tired tomorrow, but am very glad I went.

Had a fantastic time at the Knives Out screening w/ Rian Johnson Q&A. Nia DaCosta was an excellent moderator and the discussion was fascinating - I was particularly interested to hear how personal Finn's storyline in TLJ was to Rian (he compared it to his own experience of leaving religion).

The Duellists (1977):

I'm just saying, we could settle this with swords, instead of 30+ emails. 🤺

A WIP embroidery piece, with a sword and mace chzrm, spikes and letter beads.

The beads read "this email could have been a duel | fight me"

Haha yes I'm pretty sure those statues have been there ever since TFA, and there's something reassuring about their continued presence.

Was on Oxford Street last night so was fannishly obligated to go and check in on Reylo at the Disney Store. Both as iconic as ever.

While I figure this out, my initial thoughts are that:
A) Rian is humble and constantly deflects praise to himself to praise for the franchise

B) He super loves SW and tried always to make something true to what he loved as a kid

C) He’s very much focused on the positive reception of fans

Okay while I can't make the screening of TLJ, I've just booked a ticket to the Knives Out double bill on the Friday w/ Rian Johnson Q&A. I couldn't be more excited!

This is the most wholesome canon Ben Solo content ... perhaps ever? Great art.

Was in central London at the weekend and a very sweet tourist stopped me to ask if I could direct her to 'Shaftesbury' (meaning 'Shaftesbury Avenue') - it was probably the most American moment I've experienced directly in years.
