I'm genuinely hyperventilating over this. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined these conversations to have happened and (most importantly) Adam Driver to actually be on board and even enthusiastic. Fuck Disney for nixing this.
Adam Driver on Jarmusch, 'Star Wars' and putting filmmakers first
In an interview with The Associated Press, Adam Driver says he developed a Kylo Ren “Star Wars” movie that would have been directed by Steven Soderbergh.

I love that a local hairdresser to me has a Temu-ified Forest Spirit from Princess Mononoke as a Christmas decoration.

The snippets I've read of this Rey story are so moving, and the moment of connection with Ben is positively spine-tingling. I haven't bought Insider in years, but need to pick this one up for the story alone. There's something so poignant about Rey's experience in those long, lonely years on Jakku.
Y'all, I just read the best young Rey story in Star Wars Insider issue 235. If you're a Rey fan, which I very much am, then you've gotta read it.

Haha this is actually a very accurate reflection of my cultural consumption. Scary.

Can someone who reads more comics than me explain why this style of drawing male characters is so prevalent? I can admire the technical skill, but I find the way every sinew is emphasised really off-putting.

I really enjoyed WAKE UP DEAD MAN, which benefits enormously from having Josh O'Connor as its protagonist - this is Jud's story far more than Blanc's, and his faith journey is richly developed and engaging. The movie is weaker beyond his arc (though Glenn Close is delightful in a plum role!).

I know for most TFA Reylos it was the bridal carry or the interrogation that made them true believers, but for me it was absolutely this fight scene. There's something intensely passionate about every aspect - from the lighting to the choreography and the close-ups. Gorgeous.

The Running Man remake is super mid but Lee Pace follows the Adam Driver school of sexy mask-wearing and makes for a fantastic villain. Fun watch, even with some serious narrative flaws.

I think this year we all wish Adam the same thing - to make #TheHuntForBenSolo as he intended :D
Here's my art for the occasion. It always baffled me that the character with so much potential was barely developed in the movies, there's still so much I'd love to learn about him!

Nearly 10 years ago a little movie came out that changed my life. Last night I went with 3 friends who have all shared the fun along the way, to see The Force Awakens at the Royal Albert Hall accompanied by a full orchestra*. It’s still a fun watch and it brought back some great memories.

One of the friends I went to TFA with said that Kylo Ren killed Han Solo because he "wanted power" and I had to bite my tongue to stop myself vehemently disagreeing and going full defence mode 🙃

LOOK AT THAT FACE!!!

The Force Awakens in Concert at the Royal Albert Hall was a truly special experience. The score is so stunning, and only gets richer and more resonant with age. The orchestra did a superb job, and really nailed the grandeur (Kylo's theme!) and poignancy (Rey's theme!) of John Williams' compositions.

This Han-Ben interaction is great and clarifies an aspect of TFA that many viewers misunderstood - Kylo didn't kill Han because he hated him, but because he loved him. He desperately wanted to believe that he'd find peace and strength by destroying what he loved. Instead, that choice haunted him.

I coloured it.

Rey's going to find Ben Solo and kick the ass of whoever killed him.

I finally got an idea to draw after all this time and it worked out lol

I enjoyed del Toro's FRANKENSTEIN while also feeling frustrated by many of its choices. It suffers badly from bloat and self-indulgence, loudly proclaiming its own themes and eradicating much of the novel's moral complexity. Isaac goes full camp and is very fun; Elordi is heartbreaking.
