This book has been so soothing. I have probably learned more about the foreign policies that shape the world just in the first three chapters than I have in at least the last 15 years of news media. 🙃 It's helped clarify a lot of the absolutely batshit nonsense of the current timeline. COMFORT READ

This is the first Thanksgiving for Sophie & Colin Hortman without their parents, Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and Mark Hortman who were assassinated along with the family dog in an act of political murder. National guards troops were not deployed to the state in response.

Where's the condemnation of fascism and of a president that will THREATEN THEIR LIVES for advising military members that they do not have to follow illegal orders? No. They instead save it for the MacCarthy-esque boogieman "socialism."

I really hope they also include a repeal of Citizen's United in that platform. My ambivalence towards mainstream Dems would be ~significantly~ diminished. I'm going to look up that podcast now!
I'm listening to a great podcast called "Right Now with Perry Bacon." He's interviewing Stanford poli. sci. professor Adam Bonica who suggests a winning platform for Dems going forward is Anti-Corruption - no stock trading for legislators, no accepting $$ from millionaires/billionaires & much more.
