The White House has been caught.

The administration inserted a photo of Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson, and Diana Ross into the Epstein files and falsely implied it showed them with victims.

In reality, it’s a publicly available fundraiser photo featuring Jackson and Ross’s own children.

This still sucks that it's opt-out and that Firefox is even focusing on AI, but I've switched to Waterfox and pretty happy with it so far
Something that hasn't been made clear: Firefox will have an option to completely disable all AI features.

We've been calling it the AI kill switch internally. I'm sure it'll ship with a less murderous name, but that's how seriously and absolutely we're taking this.

Got a year-end wrap-up with pictures of my past Decembers when I didn't remember hiking. Turns out these were my Xbox screenshots— Mass Effect, Witcher 3, FFXV —that uploaded once I connected to OneDrive years ago. Would be nice to visit in person! #VirtualPhotography #PhotoMode #ThePhotoMode #VP

This really is, as Sara says, INSANE memory-holing: Minutes after FCC Chairman Carr told Congress that the FCC "is not" an independent agency (see video below via @atrupar.com), the FCC website started getting scrubbed to remove that description.

Oh my god y'all I had not seen the rest of the Vanity Fair photos holy shit. Christopher Anderson deserves a medal.

Look at this. He left the LIGHT SWITCHES in the edited photos! These assholes look like their well-meaning mom took a picture of them on their first day in a grown-up job.

Was a default Firefox user for 10+ years but now using Waterfox browser to avoid the incoming AI bloat. Importing everything was easy; make sure to quit Firefox first.

Other FF forks include Librewolf, but this might require a lot of customization. Waterfox so far is pretty similar but cleaner

Every major news organization should be writing about how insane this is and how, if he takes this country to war (tomorrow?), it is the act of a madman.
Trump: "Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled ... It will only get bigger, and the shock to them will be like nothing they have ever seen before — Until such time as they return to the USA all of the Oil, Land, and other Assets that they previously stole from us."

To give you a sense of how big a departure this year, the government doesn't do this for wanted criminals.
SCOOP: The Trump administration is providing the names of all travelers passing through U.S. airports to immigration officials in search of people with deportation orders, a substantial expansion of government efforts to draw on data to hunt down immigrants.

Current sandwich obsession: mortadella, sliced provolone cheese, basil pesto, and hot peppers on a ciabatta roll. All ingredients from Trader Joe's except the hot peppers which I bought in a jar from Potbelly. 🍜🥪

Wow, hard to imagine a world where rich people have access to the most expensive doctors and hospitals while the average person doesn't. Let's hope that Americans never have to worry about that happening.

the way that ai is being advertised now is that everyone has to pretend to be incompetent and incredibly incapable and useless at everything
Jimmy Fallon: "And do you use ChatGPT when raising your baby?"

Sam Altman: "I cannot imagine figuring out how to raise a newborn without ChatGPT."

I know there's a lot of hyperbole when it comes to gen AI stuff but this really does look absolutely terrible, especially this freaking Christmas tree that defies the laws of reality

We are in the dumbest timeline.

Crackle cookies using Trader Joe's chocolate peppermint baking mix were a huge hit at Thanksgiving. Delicious and moist. Just followed the instructions exactly and used a size 40 cookie scoop (who knew cookie sizing was so precise!) 🍪🍜

NEWS --> BBC confirms to me that they did edit a line out of historian @rutgerbregman.com's speech. It called Trump "the most openly corrupt president in US history."

BBC also confirms this was done on the advice of lawyers. So Trump's threats worked.

Trump’s Fury at BBC Gets Unnerving Results with Pro-MAGA Edit Stunner
First, British Broadcasting Corporation execs resigned after Trump complained about a segment. Now the BBC edited out a line from a historian that was critical of Trump. Where does this end?

It was a LONG journey but finally saw Hamilton on Broadway — 10th anniversary w/ Leslie Odom, Jr back as Aaron Burr!

Failed repeatedly to get tix 10 years ago, film & soundtrack helped my sanity during COVID, so I spent $$$ (including shutdown canceled flight) & I made it! #hamilton #hamilten #nyc

A reporter asks if Mamdani stands by calling Trump a fascist. Mamdani starts to give a delicate answer.

Trump (smiles, pats Mamdani's arm): "That's OK, you can just say yes. It's easier. I don't mind."
