🚨New on Phonautograph🚨

The follow-up to the first Four Way Hips album. This one's not recorded to a four-track, though.

Electronic with some Brazilian twists and big beats. I think it's a fun record.

If you like Cluster's Zuckerzeit this may be up your alley:

Slipped on some ice coming out of work last night while holding my guitar, violin and saxophone. Fortunately the instruments were ok but my knee took a beating. It was worth it to open up the violin case and see it intact, though. A trip to the luthier is not one I look forward to.

Today's thrift finds. Some great Brazilian guitar in a trio with bass and violin and Tomasz Stanko playing the music of his old friend Krzysztof Komeda.

“The process is the project” : Egyptian Cotton Arkestra stays rooted in Time and Place
The Montreal free jazz ensemble’s debut channels radical improvisation, community care, and unapologetically unscalable intimacy.

Sure, I've seen some concerts.

Midgeridoo
Bat Semen
The Sesame Gang
Vintage Pedal Museum Exhibit
Cheep Shooz
Medicine Ball Orgy
Thee MegaTrash Consort

You know, all the great bands. I even saw Shit Train open for Feaster Bunny before Shit Train got huge and changed their name to Arcade Fire.

I'm lucky in that my income comes from music but it's teaching after school and weekend lessons, not performing, recording or composing. My wife has a decent job. But even with two incomes we'll never be able to move to a slightly bigger apartment let alone buy a house because rents are too high.
New idea: musicians and other artists should talk more about where the money comes from, and *everyone else should talk less about it.*

Got to work early to get some practice in and came up this descending second plus a fourth line with that goes up a minor third then down a semitone and repeats the process.

Because I work afternoons/evenings I have a pretty great morning routine. Wake up, drink some tea and listen to music, start making lunch if I need to and while that's going get in about 45 minutes/an hour of practice. Today I made this chicken soup with sauerkraut.

Just realized that since people have moved in the last few years we don't know any of our neighbours anymore. We only have the neighbourhood characters left like the old Polish man who yells, the people with all the dogs, the woman who walks down the street singing loudly/

yesterday @lizpelly.bsky.social joined us to kick off @newfeelingcoop.bsky.social's AGM and it was such an honour. i remember the excitement and validation everyone felt to see our co-op's name in the pages of Mood Machine when it came out, and last night's chat was equally affirming.
