Created a new splash screen design for the game and added the partner character to it. I intend for her to be playable later down the line. #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame #digitalart #cyberpunk #screenshotsaturday
It's no problem, I appreciate your interest in it.
It's not something I've done yet. I've just been using royalty free assets for now.
Leaning more towards an 80s style for that, so similar to Huntdown that went the same route. An Arcade / Mega Drive style soundtrack might work but I'm not entirely sure.
I'm still working on the various sprites and animations and progress is going quite well. There are still some placeholder and old sprites here and there, but this shows some of the animation progress so far. #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame #pixelart
A bit of both, plus other games too. Watching longplays is helpful as well.
Yeah, best to do something fun or simple when that happens.
Nice, they're looking good too. I also approve of putting off fixing bugs to add new visuals.
More sprite and animation progress. Idles and walk animations for the main block of larger enemies are done. This one got a slight redesign from before as well, not sure if I like it yet. #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame #pixelart #ドット絵 #screenshotsaturday
I did spend quite a bit of time in that phase, longer than expected as I tested and learned new things. I got most of the basics in there while it looked like this but in the end it didn't end up straying too far from the original idea, which was mixup of Huntdown and the Robocop arcade game.
You're not wrong lol. The prototype phase went pretty well I think. A lot of changes like resolution, UI styles and the basic mechanics. I tested a lot of different things with the main character, different movement speeds, weapon types, armour etc. It was definitely worthwhile.
I hope so, there's just a lot of work involved making the trailer and such. I've been at this for well over a year now with some breaks in between. Spent quite a bit of time in the prototype phase testing things out too.
It might seem a bit over the top but I don't want to end up putting the steam page out too early and regretting it later.
Yeah, I want to get some more of the extra sprite animations done so I can make a trailer that doesn't look bad with all the placeholders. I want to make some more art for it as well. I might be overdoing it, but I want the steam page to be top notch.
Well that's the theory at least (it never actually works)😁
Weird, definitely shows as empty for me. Maybe the bots are conspiring against you and breaking your list?
You were definitely right about the text, thanks a lot for that, looks a lot better now. I probably made that harder on myself having the light coming in from the bottom. I like this a lot more now.
Hey, yeah I'll give that a go.
I like the top one because it's a bit more cyberpunk looking but I think I lean more towards the bottom one because the blue and yellow matches the characters and has more of a police look to it. Honestly though I hate doing logos, I'm never happy with them lol.
There's a few options with this isn't there? Character swiching, different paths etc, I think her having separate levels would probably work better in the long run though. It'll be easier to balance if it's just one character to worry about.
Yeah I think so too and it wouldn't be a massive undertaking to add that mechanically and visually. Level design and balancing is where the workload would really come in as her levels would have to be quite a bit different. More platforming I think for her.
I've tried a couple of logo ideas out in pixel form for the game. Logos aren't my strong point for sure and I'm not really sure I like either of these. I think the blue and yellow one is the better of the two.

What do you think?

The other (well original) plan was to create a new game mode between levels that would play a lot like ChaseHQ and have her shoot from the passenger seat. That was some serious scope creep for the time being though.
Yeah exactly. It still works without her too so if it's a little crowded I can take her out or move her a bit.
I do want her to be playable though but I'm not sure how well received that will be as she'd play quite a bit differently to him being faster, a lot weaker but a better weapon.
Thanks, there was actually the plan was to add the second character to the orange side of him. His side is colder and blue, while her side is warmer and orange. It's all separate to make the capsule art a bit easier to adjust.
I've made more progress on sprite animations. This is the large shotgun grunt. I may still tweak the design on this one. #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame #pixelart #ドット絵
