I remember @profsunnysingh.bsky.social reminding us that protest should be joyful. This song about the PAIGC is such a good example of that.

Almost forgot I wrote this piece with the tail end of my bubble plots. But if you want to know how many Reform voters think white people face worse discrimination than ethnic minorities, I’ve got the goods.
Finally got round to giving @benansell.bsky.social's latest. It's also one of his very best - especially if you want to understand the extent to which Reform voters (often talked of as 'the people' and, apparently therefore, representative of all UK voters) are real outliers, culturally-speaking.

NEW: Israel has committed at least 497 ceasefire violations, killing at least 342 Palestinians since the U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Israel & Hamas went into effect on Oct. 10.

An Israeli ‘kamikaze’ drone targeted a car on a busy Gaza City street on Nov. 22, killing 5 Palestinians.

A student complimented my outfit yesterday, describing it as “elevated thug.”

I was wearing battered combat boots, wool cargoes, a jumper and a long (faux) fur coat. The outfit was warm and comfortable, thrown on in 5 minutes flat and I don’t think it stylish at all.

But I’ll take it! 😂

Here I unpack the term “racialised (un)belonging” as I use it in my work. I rely on Spillers' "ungendering" to describe a process that is produced through a colonial history that inscribes the racialised other as ever beyond the bounds of humanity.

Remember when Nigel Farage said that Reform would deport children and people were, rightly, up in arms? Where's that outrage now that Labour are saying they will do the same thing, to children born in this country? A bad policy doesn't become good just because "your side" made it. 11/

On trans and non-binary individuals, Labour has gone further, including bringing back a form of Section 28, and that has absolutely nothing to do with the Supreme Court ruling so many supporters seem to think gets Labour off the hook for transphobic policies. 8/

Reform's called for mass deportations. At least they're honest. Labour's policies will cause mass deportations and they'll still claim they are "progressive".
Level of deflection by some Labour supporters is huge. These are still discriminatory polices, even if it's Labour pushing them. 2/

While it feels like I'm repeatedly slamming my head against a brick wall repeating this massively simple concept. Saying "Reform would be worse" doesn't make what Labour is doing better. Labour is now the most anti-immigration, anti-any marginalised group, government we have seen in decades. 1/
Very long thread: As with many of Labour's anti-immigration policies, this isn't new. British police have been stationed in other countries for this purpose for a long time
It does however show how Labour is pushing more on anti-immigration than previous governments. 1/

These comments by @danielsohege.bsky.social are unfortunately pitch-perfect. The idea that the UK is the Chocolate Factory and that there aren't other countries out there in dire need of nurses, doctors, teachers, carers, and so forth is delusional - and it's going to be too late when people realise
All those people, including current government, who falsely claim migrants are to blame for failings with the NHS, along with infrastructure in general, are in for one hell of a shock with how much worse things will get with Labour's anti-immigration policies.
