Working on my Fiction page this morning on my clunky website. Check it out: anticolonialpedagogy.wixsite.com/jbrooks/proj...
I'm participating in #NoNotWriMo this month but something that has always eluded me is how to stay organized. I have hundreds of little snippets of ideas all over the place because that's how I meet my writing goal. How do you all stay organized? #amwriting #writingcommunity #freewrite
Excited to share I'll be joining @futurescapesww.bsky.social Long Manuscript Workshop with Miriam Cortinovis! This is a huge step as I've struggled with writing beginnings, so I'm excited to sharpen up my early worldbuilding and get this novel done! #amwriting #speculativefiction #amwritingscifi

The Seaglass Blade queer epic fantasy kickstarter launched this morning and hit its initial funding goal in 10 minutes! 🥰

We have unlocked the first stretch goal and I hope we'll reach stretch goal 2 soon!

oh my. Best wishes for your kickstarter!
Yes, exactly. It's easier to feign ignorance and let discussion spiral on exactly the wrong topic. It feels like the "why don't you wear a suit?" discourse all over again.
After a year of my laptop not being backed up, and a month after I found the backup drive, can I now say I backed it up and can finally stop panicking anytime I take my laptop somewhere. Ok meteor, you can now crash into my car and destroy my laptop, my novel is secure (pls don't actlly do that)
Book 1: *My spoiled character doesn't get to enroll in military school and gets grounded on Earth* --> Poor lil dude *pat, pat*
Book 2: *my character experiences horrors upon horrors* --> Please, stop! He's already nearly dead! Think of the children 🥺😭

Sorry/not sorry the plot told me to.
💡Writing Tip: Your plot should test your character—not just physically, but emotionally & morally.
Readers remember stories where characters are changed by their choices.

What’s one moment in your WIP where your protagonist has to make a difficult decision?

It's that lack of awareness of geographic diversity, too. (Admittedly, coming from LA, I lacked that, too) I couldn't imagine the small town I ended up in where Walmart was the only place for groceries. But it's that humility that is absent--humility to say my reality and access may not be yours.
I still remember the looks I got when I shopped at Walmart in college for basic goods but we were all supposed to be so socially "aware". Sorry, but I literally couldn't afford underwear at the boutique shop.
Before I go to bed, unfriendly reminder that boycotting Amazon and other services is just *not feasible* for some people. Income, disability, access to other services, lack of transportation, delivery fees, etc.

It doesn't mean they're "complicit". It means they're a victim of capitalism too.
Trying to push through the disappointment, but at this point 13 rejections / 14 submissions this year (goal was 1 sub / month which I was so happy to exceed) is really weighing on me. I just needed ONE win. Ugh #amwriting #writingrejections
Awesome masterclass coming up with NK Jemisin through BlueStoop. Can't wait!

after millions of views and shares of my Portland Frog art. (thank you all🙏🏾) I got requests to highlight priests, and chickens, and Chicagoans, and T-Rexes, and more… all of us who refuse to bend the knee. so this is for US.

The Brotherly Shove slash fic novella will have to wait for another hero.
Yes, this! I love it because it counteracts the usual brusque brutality of football plays. It's like, "Here... let me urgently and ardently fold you towards where you need to be, my vicious dove."
In true Philly fashion (I just got here tbh) I concede our argument with some kind of curse word and a respectful bow.
I like your stories and I don't want to fight you but we might have to square up re: it 'being boring'.
Your kid has good taste ;) #gobirds (I am not a sports person at all I just live here and the vibes are strong)

I love that definition of talent! Talent = party tricks. Skill = training over time.
Migraines are the worst, so sorry. I would send an alien mind healer but they can't travel from the page into the real world just yet.
As someone from the West Coast now living on the East, I apologize for pretending we don't live up to every stereotype imaginable out here.
