Very solid review. I'm honestly loving the game. It's been a perfect time sink in all the right ways. Atsu is a very enjoyable character, I LOVE the highlighting of Ainu culture, and the world is just... stunning. Working my way toward the Kitsune now. I don't want it to end.

Eh, "critical to the lore" is being very generous to Tron Evolution. Not a completely terrible experience, but "inessential" sums it up aptly.

Legacy didn't bomb. It just underperformed. Made around $60m in profit, but that's just a poor ROI for how much the film cost to make and and market. Similar to the original: modest profit and became a cult hit, but never truly "successful" outside of the tie-in games.

I'm now 25+ hours into Ghost of Yōtei, and I still don't know where the time went. Just amazing open world design. I dive in and the world just goes away for a while.

There's a world of entertainment released daily that just isn't for me. But there's also plenty that appeals to me in particular. I'd rather focus on the stuff I actually enjoy. Being constantly mad about pop culture strikes me as somehow both exhausting and staggeringly lazy and boring.

What boggles my mind is that they can't allow ANYTHING to exist unmolested unless it specifically caters to them. There are thousands upon thousands of games. Yet they fixate on whatever is current, which just shows how performative the outrage is.

And these are the same guys who complain about a woman warrior being "unrealistic." There's no structure to their gripes. Just "I'm not getting what I want so I'm complaining."
