Today in writing: learning about motorcycle throttles. According to this Swedish guy on YouTube, you're supposed to hold the handlebars "like you're holding two baby kittens you don't want to crush," which is also how I've been told to hold a horse's reins.

Printing presses kept their letters in cases.

Capital letters went in the upper case.
Smaller letters went in the lower case.

This is why we say ‘UPPER CASE’ and ‘lower case.’

Ok, but what did we call them before the invention of the printing press?

MAJUSCULE and minuscule.

I maintain that taste is subjective, quality is not. People get really mad when I say this, and I'm just over here like, no, there really are objective standards for excellence in all art forms. "Art is subjective" is too imprecise.

Snarge: What is...er...left...when a bird and a plane collide. The bird bits, specifically.

Obviously I knew about birdstrikes but SNARGE?!
