Many other lauded media would not be allowable under Itch's new guidelines that capitulate to the unscientific and unreasonable demands of payment processors. i.e. Game of Thrones, but let's go back further: Most allegorical religious and mythological texts, like, you know, the Bible, lel.
So a note is that Itch.io changing their NSFW policy in the manner presently listed has produced an interesting consequence:
Baldurs Gate 3 is so far out of bounds it shouldn't be allowed by Itch.io rules, period, due to bear sex, murder horny, bdsm, mind control, and the incest elves. Plus more.

The experience of being queer in indie games is you can build a little space, you can spend years building it, you can make an entire thriving community there, and it can be wiped away into nothing because one person somewhere shrugged one day and was like "eh… no more queers"
so itchio has shadowbanned any games tagged with 'nsfw', 'adult', or 'erotic' so they don't show up in searches, and several devs have reported that their r18 games have been removed from the site with no warning
