Teenagers near us letting off fireworks: in a children's playground, near houses, lighting them up and then running away, not caring how they are aimed.

It's your annual reminder that: FIREWORKS SHOULD NOT BE SOLD TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
Fireworks go off here all year round (inc daytime at height of summer)

This week is the worst of the year, but we'll have fireworks several times a week now until NYE.
I wish the govt would just ban their sale to the public, especially now they are so powerful and loud.

My dogs are miserable
A biphasic sleep routine might be what I need to finally deal with insomnia. Certainly in the winter I tend more towards a nap on the sofa before heading to bed at 10/11 and reading before sleeping again

I was quite surprised to see it described as a quality newspaper somewhere relating to the BdB story. That's historical, no longer current

The days may be getting colder and darker, but there's still a chance to spot beautiful butterflies and moths in your gardens and green spaces 🦋🍂

But is it striking if you aren't being paid?

Surely the employment contract has already been broken if they've not been paid due to the shutdown? How are they expected to live if no longer earning?

(Brit here watching what's happening in disbelief and shutdown is not the worst of it)
Feel like I'm missing something, but dont they have immense power here? If they all just stopped turning up to work - no pay on the horizon so why work - wouldn't this quickly bring everything to a halt and force the government's hand? (I believe ICE is still getting paid, therefore gov have choice)
If the worst* government you can possibly imagine came to power after we had left the ECHR, would you feel confident that your now no-longer rights would be respected by them?

(*worst is relative depending on what you believe, just imagine a govt totally opposed to your own values)
Reminder: Here's what Nigel Farage tried to take away from you this week...

Today is two years since Glunda The Veg Witch came out, my Pratchettesque cosy fantasy that l ended up a BBNYA finalist.

I'm really proud of this book, both the print and ebook editions. Not only is it my best writing to date, but the design and layout are some of my best work as well.

Asylum seekers, housed in hotels in Manchester, are reaching out in their own words to address the concerns of the local community.

Please take a minute to read their letter, & share it with the people in your life who need to hear the truth about the people they are protesting.

A man sits before a pit of the dead. Nazi soldiers surround him—one aims a gun at his head. For decades, no one knew who they were or where this photo was taken. Now, new digital tools and help from our community may finally reveal the truth behind this haunting Holocaust image🧵

Good news! The #RentersRightsBill has received royal assent - this landmark legislation will give vital protections to the millions of private renters in the UK. A happy day.

Now it's time to tackle the next crisis facing renters - affordability. That must include rent controls.

Breaking…

Well not so much “breaking” as “being covered up by mainstream media”…

Membership of the Green Party hits 150,000!!!

Well in excess of the minor parties like Labour & Tory.

If you're lucky enough to have Mothin as your Councillor, check out the leaflet to see all that he's been up to (my favourite: the community garden, of course!)
This feel a bit like a love letter to #Leeds
Yay. Priceless. The right column at the right time. And a gleefully English two fingers to the haters.
