Majestic feather drying, post rain.
A turkey vulture is perched atop a pole, entire wingspan extended to dry its feathers post rain storm. Blue sky is beginning to peek through the heavy clouds. 'Rusty Stream and White Pebbles,' was painted in the late autumn of 1921, a year after Félix Vallotton chose to spend his winter months in Cagnes. Used to the low, grey skies of Normandy, he was struck by the brilliance of the light in this part of France.
