There is a lot of history with this place on my Mom's side of the family but it was also a major source of pollution and I am glad it is closed. The economic hit to the area was rough but it had been in the works for decades now.

Thanks Eddie! I enjoy the wild looks of Lomo Purple (I call it the poor man's Aerochrome) but with the right color palate you can get mostly natural looking shots with the pink/purple hues as accents.

I definitely struggle with quick focusing that camera but the lens they put on there is so good I dont mind the other quirks.

Absolutely! Plenty of places were nearly decimated. It was super close on my end and the house behind mine was demolished afterwards. I lost a car and the skirting on the house was torn up by the velocity.

I do civil engineering work in Asheville and most of our restoration jobs are underway.

For sure! It wasn't fun but the aftermath was worse being totally cut off from the world with no power, internet, or even roads leaving the region.

Today is the 1-year anniversary of when Hurricane Helene ravaged my community! I was in a fairly moderate flood area and one of the only ways to stay sane as 2-3ft of water ran under my house was to document it with film and phone.

I'll be posting stuff throughout the day I've never shared before!
