Spinning off from my love-hate of hallmark / hallmarkesque Christmas movies, the last few years we sought out other movie Christmases, starting with contemporary and late C20th (o hai Gremlins!) then going back to the classics to try and work out what gave the festive feels.

There's some bits of a wonderful life I like, others less so. I do love White Christmas though! We've been seeking out lesser known classic Christmas films and found some great entertainment last few years. Lots of post-war parables. Particularly enjoyed 'It happened on 5th Avenue'.

When I was super miserable in my 1 and only fte academic job I became a connoisseur of the cheesy Christmas Movie - the ones they show on channel 5 every afternoon from Halloween on.

Some things I love / hate / am fascinated by about them:

1. The Very Public First Kiss. NO! Just Why?! 100% ICK.

ICE deported a woman who owned a home in the US for 30 years. A judge banned ICE from deporting her to Sierra Leone where she had been tortured, so it deported her to Ghana, which kidnapped her and sent her back Sierra Leone anyway. ICE is part of this illegal conspiracy.

Yr regular PSA that covid and flu are both airborne and the same precautions work for both.*

Mask up, ventilate, filter air, use nose spray if you can. #InfectionIsNotInevitable

*brought to you by being the one person in the drs waiting room who a) didn't have flu b) was wearing a mask 😷
