Good morning Bluesky. Is there a reason why some Americanisms are completely unacceptable to Irish people, but others are perfectly fine?

I am thinking of an acquaintance to referred to the M1 as "the interstate" and will not do so again.

And yet "trick or treat" caught on...

Hard to believe 3 yrs have passed since the 10.29 이태원 참사 - a tragedy worsened by the Yoon admin’s diversion of police resources. Working-level officials took the fall while the Pres. spread conspiracy theories. Remember the lives lost, & the families still seeking truth.
Absolutely fuck London Bagel Museum.

My distain for Róisín Murphy is limitless. To build your career on the support of LGBTQ+ fans, to now be blowing kisses to Linehan on X is sick. Enjoy the support of the transphobes and fash faking they like your work but anyone who knows dance music knows it wouldn’t be what it is without trans ppl

In the audience tonight is Charlotte Bennett, one of the 13 women that Andrew Cuomo is credibly alleged to have sexually harassed while they worked in his government.

She can't speak for herself because Cuomo's lawyers have hounded her.

So I confronted him.
Can't help but think that's terrible for Oasis. They're already a boring live band, but trying to follow OB? 😮

#OtD 18 Oct 1979 the South Korean uprising against the US-backed dictatorship which began in Busan two days earlier spread to Masan. The government responded by declaring martial law. Learn more about South Korean people's history on our podcast: workingclasshistory.com/tag/south-ko...
It's been refreshing to move away from planning 2 day, multiple venue festivals, and back to small scale events. I'm happy if 10 people show up. But at the same time, without the ticketing and structure, it's always more worrying on the day when I have no idea if anyone is going to show up or not.
Last month, 7 photographers took part in a photo walk in Busan where everyone shot on the same film stock, Kodak Color Plus 200. With the color being the same, what sets the images apart are the composition of the photographer, and the camera used. Come along for a chilled party and see the results

you have the right to not hang out with assholes. you deserve not to hang out with assholes. you are under 0 obligation to socially interact with assholes in your free time.

it is truly terrible that our culture tricked so many people into thinking that they’re obliged to be friends with assholes!
we have spent the last decade witnessing a national epidemic of “it should be illegal to not hang out with me just because I’m a mean asshole” behavior
"disliking me is persecution" describes so incredibly many people's entire outlook these days defector.com/free-press-r...
This edition will begin with guest speaker Paul Fortunato, a fine artist and educator who taught for 23 years at the School of Visual Arts (NY) before joining Hanbat National University. Paul was a MacDowell resident and recently completed a major solo exhibition at Daejeon Gallery.

books should have an anti-acknowledgements section where the author talks shit about all the people who fucked them over while they were trying to write the thing. not bc I personally want to write one but bc I love gossip
Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat
I think I'll need a holiday to recover from the holiday. My parents have been visiting since the start of the month, and over the 2 weeks I've walked roughly 188km. It's been a long time since I had to take a tourists view around Korea.
Sometimes I think about getting involved in the music scene in Busan again, and then I see 2 bands I like get together to play a show celebrating a guy who spent 5 years stalking and gaslighting his ex.
After watching and loving One Battle After Another with my wife, we watched Punch Drunk Love for the first time tonight. I'd heard so much about it for years, and it was shockingly terribly bad.
Thanks to the always amazing Meryl for the poster design. Check out more of her work on Instagram here:
