This Padres fan wishes him well. He's been a lot of fun to watch the last several years. While it's not fun to lose players you root for to free agency, it is nice to see them get rewarded

I think we should just retire the term gerrymander and call it all dummymandering
I recently learned that there is a term for a gerrymander that backfires: it's a dummymander. I take great pleasure when assholes shoot themselves in the foot

I have always like Rik Emmett's guitar playing, and he was a hell of a frontman. But his voice was, of course, his real defining trait. I wonder if it'll still be able to do what it did in the '70's and '80's. I hope so

Cool view from a hilltop park in Rancho Penesquitos. On the left is Mt Soledad, about the same elevation I'm at. And on the right you can see the ocean through Carmel Valley. Distance to the ocean horizon from this elevation should be about 25 nautical miles according to the interwebs

While surfing this morning I was chatting with a friend in the water. SDFC losing in the MLS semis came up, and he mentioned the San Diego curse. I pointed out it was a sunny (cool, but not overly so) Monday morning and we were in the ocean chasing waves. I don't feel so cursed 😎
