Further subtlety in the news of the day. It's only been eight years since this movie was made and we're already living up to some of its predictions.

First of all, damn... that's some serious Trek representation. (That's Manu Intiraymi on the left.) Second, Tim Russ' Vulcan eyebrow is just a tiny fraction of him being an even bigger dick than his brother. This is not a subtle movie.

Three men are gathered around a sci-fi video display for a conversation: the imperious-looking one (Tim Russ) arches an eyebrow haughtily at the youngest (Manu Intiraymi), a manual labourer in a sci-fi jumpsuit, while the oldest one (Armin Shimerman) looks on and holds his tongue. There is clearly some tension in the air.

Bucks County, Pennsylvania, was ground zero for the conservative takeover of school boards & anti-LGBTQ policies in 2021, on the Central Bucks and Pennridge boards.

Dems flipped both boards back in 2023.

Tonight, Dems have ousted *all* Republicans from both school boards.

Yeah, this was made all of a year after The Expanse started airing and it doesn't come close to matching that show for the intricate dance of many things moving around one another in space, but the exterior bits still look pretty alright considering the (non-existent) budget.

And wow, what a difference a decade makes. This opening looks and sounds so much better than Of Gods and Men or anything like that, though this kerning is making my eyes bleed.

A spacey background of stars and blue-grey nebulae set the mood at the beginning of the movie as the credits run. Layered over top, an angular, italicized font conjures up images of mid-2000s graphic design; it reads "Make-up Design & Supervisor: Thomas E. Suprenant", but the spacing of the letters makes it particularly difficult to read the surname.

Some of them were alright — I just watched Inalienable for the first time in about fifteen years this afternoon and in some ways, it's more timely now than it was in 2007 — and some of them were Star Trek: Renegades, but tonight, I'm watching 5th Passenger (www.imdb.com/title/tt3165...).
