If you wanna assess the population of 🇫🇷 cities, you shouldn't focus on

- Municipality (=Communes) ss those are way too small

- Area of influence, as it's way too large and scattered.

Rather, you should focus on the Urban unit.

Taking about SA-3 couplers, I have an interesting example in mind.

The short-lived sleeper Kraków Gł - Kiev P which was running 20 years ago, had sleeping-cars mounted on SUW-2000 variable-gauge bogies.

In 🇵🇱 it would retain its SA-3 couplers, so as to dispense with cutting the train

Longer-term, a new fast by-pass (3kV, dual-track, 200-230km/h) will be needed on Santa Cruz de Mudela - Vadollano.

This was the preferred option throughout the 70s to improve railway performance on Madrid - Andalusia.

But in the mid-80s, the 🇪🇦 government had eventually preferred the NAFA

I just can't believe that Eurostar has been losing 18 MONTHS in procuring this replacement+growth fleet.

E300 and PB(K)A fleets are ageing, there is rising demand whom cannot be met, and your competitors just mouthwater at biting into your current monopolist profits.

Linha do Norte is no HSL, yet a partly upgraded and very busy conventional railway.

Evora - Elvas will be 250km/h because of 2-3 daily freighters to Sines.

Remove those and that bit csn easily be upgraded to ≥300.

Eurostar execs claim that there will be 17 new extra trainsets. But they're wrong.

The 7 current e300s are actually 14 200-k trainsets.
