The Big Bad Wolf is here! A high-octane, noir-inspired mystery with a fairytale twist, for readers aged 7 to 107. Wonderful cover (and an internal map) by George Ermos. Out TODAY! Order your copy here: www.pgbellwriter.com/where-to-buy/ #KidLitUK #KidLit
The cover for The Big Bad Wolf Murder. It shows a young girl in a red tracksuit and a young wolf boy in a green t-shirt, hiding behind a thick tree trunk. The grinning silhouette of a large, scary looking wolf, menaces them from behind the tree.

Does this mean the Cardiff Story museum is going away?

Word of mouth is important to a book's success. So, if you'd like to see the authors who wrote your favourite stories commissioned to write more, please keep talking about all the #books you love.

The Tunnels Below is a wonderful book - shades of Neverwhere, but stranger, lovelier and more haunting. A great MG fantasy for these longer, darker evenings. #KidLit #KidLitUK

Day 12 of my month of Black kids books. This is The Tunnels Below by Nadine Wild Palmer. A wonderful, slightly surreal fantasy adventure set in a hidden world beneath London. Cecilia finds herself working to save her new friends from a tyrannical overlord. Original and brilliant.

Mr Brazil starts us off inoffensively enough with a fairly boring suit but my goodness he's selling it with that walk. He does get a bonus point for the suit clearly fitting though, because as you will see that is not always a given...

Same here. The advice always used to be, "get into TV and features" but that industry is also currently on fire.

Glad you had a good time, Joanne. I took part in the school programme during the week and enjoyed myself immensely. And how lovely is Villa Rothsay?

I've met some truly lovely children's authors, organisers and - most importantly - young readers at the Isle of Wight Literary Festival. @iowlf.bsky.social
An Isle of Wight Literary Festival lanyard, labelled P G Bell School Author P.G. Bell, as good looking as ever, but this time with the added bonus of a blue newsboy cap (he bought it on impulse, is still in two minds about it, and is trying it out), standing in a school hall in front of a projector screen with his own grinning mug on it. A view across the Isle of Wight coast, with a sweeping bay leading to undulating white cliffs in the distance. Waves crash on the sandy shore and the sky is a dazzling blue. A view from the window of the Villa Rothsay, looking across the Solent to England. A ferry is cutting through the steel-grey waters.

Oh, and Oddity, also on Shudder, if you're after something pared down and creepy.

Have you seen Last Cut of the Dead? Tremendous. And the new VHS Halloween just dropped. Not seen it yet, but the VHS series has been reliably entertaining thus far.

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

I'm taking The Big Bad Wolf Murder to the Isle of Wight Literary Festival for two days of school events. I'm told there's a posh dinner in store too. Have packed a (rather dusty) tie. #KidLit #KidLitUK

UK authors submitting claims for the Anthropic civil case; what are you putting in the "Routing Number" field when you're telling them how to pay you? My bank says that we in the UK don't actually have routing numbers! But I don't want to just make one up.
A screenshot of an electronic form. The field reads "Routing Number".
