Everyone with a platform — even a microscopic one like mine — should use their megaphone to promote other people’s great work. Particularly the work that’s not already big or popular or successful.

Always promote great work when you see it.
Sometimes I see a very famous person plug a book or movie or other creative project that they're not involved in or benefiting from and I am SHOCKED in a good way. More of that would be... good. Bizarre how rare it is.

Books just materialised on shelves, like supermarket produce. And author visits really weren't a thing when I was growing up. I wish they had been! They'd have blown my mind. I try to remember that every time I visit a school or a library. #KidLit #KidLitUK

Final pass on Heather Spellman 2 before it goes off to my editor!

(You can preorder now, btw: www.panmacmillan.com/authors/heat...)

Then it's back to Hazel Graves 3 and drafting a romcom caper (uncontracted, eep).

Chatting with @pgbellwriter.bsky.social on another platform about how as kids we had no concept of authors actually existing! One of the benefits of author school visits is that kids can see that authors are real people (like them!), plus see the labour and skill that goes into making books.

A *huge* vaccine victory. I've been writing on this for years; Australia has seen remarkable progress in cervical cancer prevention with the HPV vaccine. I love seeing science triumph like this.
Australia recorded ZERO cases of cervical cancer in women under 25 for the first time since they started tracking the cancer in the 80s.

This is the power of vaccines.

The HPV vaccine is extremely effective at preventing cancer.

Viruses can be oncogenic. Get your vaccines and protect yourself!
newsGP - Australia set for world-first cervical cancer elimination
Vaccination programs have played a key role, and GPs remain ‘instrumental’ in boosting screening rates to reach the 2035 target.

delightful/horrifying
I was at the ER the night before Thanksgiving/early hours of Thanksgiving last year with a family member, and we overheard two doctors call that block of time "The Night of the Mandolines" due to the sheer number of sharps injuries during meal prep.
