Och I’m a day late, sorry.
Just finished this book which I first read in the mid ‘80’s. I have to confess I skipped over the abattoir chapters this time as well. It shouts of the difficulties of being working class and a creative. I got frustrated by Mat at times, and felt sorry for Helen, his wife.

I picked up a copy of Walter Benjamin and Bertolt Brecht: The Story of a Friendship by Erdmut Wizisla - largely because the timeline at the beginning made them seem like a pair of mean girls out to ‘to annihilate Heidegger’ in a reading group.
