The petrochemical industry is expanding production of PFAS in response to the data center boom, betting that the tech industry's toxic chemical releases face no serious prospect of regulation under the Trump regime. But campaigners know that the states have a powerful role.

"DEPA has prohibited the use of six active ingredients—fluazinam, fluopyram, diflufenican, mefentrifluconazole, taufluvalinate, and flonicamid."
They "break down into trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), a type of PFAS that easily contaminates groundwater."

Europe inches closer to a toxic-free environment.

We are restricting the use of PFAS chemicals in firefighting foams.

These ‘forever chemicals' do not break down naturally, posing unacceptable risk to human health and the environment.

Cleaner choices, stronger protection ↓

A firefighter in a full-body, silver aluminized suit is holding a large nozzle, spraying a powerful stream of white firefighting foam onto the ground. In the blurred background, a red fire truck is visible. In the bottom left corner, there is a dark blue text overlay that reads "FOREVER CHEMICALS" in a large font, with "Restricting PFAS in firefighting foams" below it in a smaller font. In the bottom right corner is the logo of the European Commission.

And we need to be protecting our drinking water sources, so all of them are usable. In 2022, @rachelsalvidge.bsky.social reported on a drinking water source in Cambridgeshire which had to be taken out of use because it was so contaminated with PFAS.
