Oh cool, cool.

Actively yelling your support for genocide is fine. Stating your opposition to it is not. Welcome to Labour Britain - it’s like Tory Britain but more so.
Depressingly well-made point.

Absolutely bloody love this guy. He’s not my favourite Doctor (sorry David, but Jon Pertwee and Patrick Troughton are both so epic in the role) but as a person, he can’t be beaten and honestly, that’s more important.
"In recent history, the Doctor Who actor has repeatedly made headlines thanks to his allyship towards trans and gender non-conforming people – most notably with a subtle gesture during a TV interview that wound up helping to raise £18,000 for the LGBTQ+ youth charity AKT."
'F*** Off And Let People Be': David Tennant Doubles Down On Support For Trans People

Okay, here we go.

Health & care staff are no longer allowed a Covid booster, but they're still expected to look after COVID+ patients.

NHS/govt is reneging on its duty of care. Staff will become unwell, and patients too will suffer.

You know what to do

Honestly, what the fuck is this country turning in to?

It’s okay for authors to give their royalties to anything they want as long as they’re not honest about it, I assume. Or do we really think no other writer is funding someone the government doesn’t like?
This is madness.

All books by Normal People and Conversations with Friends author Sally Rooney set to be withdrawn from sale.

The 34-year-old Irish author says: “The disappearance of my work from bookshops would mark a truly extreme incursion by the state into the realm of artistic expression.”
Sally Rooney books may be withdrawn from UK sale over Palestine Action ban, court told
Rooney has said she intended to use royalties from her work "to go on supporting Palestine Action."

Do you consider “another thing coming” or “another think coming” the correct phrase, and what country do you come from?

I come from the UK and have always thought everyone knew it as “think” (and been annoyed by the ‘incorrect’ “thing” being used in fanfic) but it seems I’m out of date?
Oh, “another thing coming” has generally been considered the proper way to say it for quite some time. Until now, I’ve been told “think” is a mistake by my English teachers all my life, even before the Judas Priest song came out.

Tbh, this should be a big pet peeve imo.
A little pet peeve. It’s not exactly that tropical rainforests have “gone from being allies in the fight against climate breakdown to being part of the problem.” Forests lose carbon when people cut them (or via fire) and gain carbon when trees grow. It’s that the losing is outweighing the gaining.
Africa’s forests transformed from carbon sink to carbon source, study finds
Alarming shift since 2010 means planet’s three main rainforest regions now contribute to climate breakdown

Gah, my trich is really bad tonight and I’m going to have a bald patch on one side of my head and I hate it but it feels weird and I can’t stop. I loathe having this so much.

This is fascinating, don’t know how out of date it is or how quickly these things change (& non-binary people are missed off most censuses so our relationships don’t necessarily get counted as queer), but have just been scrolling over the entire US looking at places friends live for queer community.

I’m glad to say I’ve not seen anyone suggesting this.

Deciding that disabled people‘s needs are unimportant compared to the *possibility* of frustrating AI (which is scraping your data in every other way anyway) would show how little you think of us.

I trust none of my friends would do that.
Some are suggesting you deliberately write inaccurate or confusing alt text, because they say this confuses AI scrapers that are analyzing images.

The purpose of alt text is to help people who cannot see the image. Deliberately misrepresenting the image is a gross misuse of alt text. Don't do it.

I would love to see the video/transcripts of Nathan Gill's pro-Russia speeches in the EU parliament alongside Nigel Farage's pro-Russia speeches. See how similar the language and talking points are between a paid Russian agent and a completely free and independent politician!

If you don’t understand how disability benefits can be a net economic positive…
You don’t understand basic economics.

Every £1 you cut from disability benefits, you cut nearly £2 from the economy.

And you harm a vulnerable person.
