I couldn’t get into The Duke Of Burgundy at all, but I’d like to check out In Fabric

It didn’t grab me when I saw it years ago but a recent rewatch had me mesmerised by its dreamlike atmosphere. The attention to detail draws you into the uncomfortable, inescapable sensory experience
paulsdmcr.bsky.social
I admit there’s not much in the way of plot, which is why I found it underwhelming at the time. Recent viewings had me appreciating it as an experience; the tone and texture and all that filmponce stuff

It’s not you, it’s them. They just don’t have the same inventive, world-building approach to sound anymore

iTunes bargain heads up. A film for audio geeks, about an audio geek. Much like one of those nightmares you have about being at a workplace where everything and everyone feels wrong. Not for everyone, but I bet David Lynch loved it. Very good soundtrack by Broadcast, too
Berberian Sound Studio by Peter Strickland https://itunes.apple.com/gb/movie/berberian-sound-studio/id574813624 for £3.99

Other than being nightmare fuel, what is the point of videos like this? Who needs them?

Oh god just saw this OpenAI generated video someone posted to Reddit of ‘A girl knocks on your door at 3am’ and this may be the least mentally healthy product on the planet it not most terrifying

He’s definitely got the same insufferable energy as Zomby did back in 2011

I've just seen Drew Struzan described as being "To film posters as John Williams is to movie scores", and I can't think of a more fitting description.

Do they literally mean radium, as in the element? The carcinogenic, toxic stuff?

Such a strong memory of buying Talkie Walkie at an Edinburgh record shop on a cold February day in 2004, then walking around the city, listening to it on my CD Walkman. This was the track that made me decide the album was a banger

Not sure if my brain isn’t working properly but didn’t MPCs used to allow LFO modulation of external synths via MIDI CC? The 3.5 OS for the One/Live/X has no such function, which seems….well….rubbish
paulsdmcr.bsky.social
I was wondering about that. I only ever played Repton on one or programmed that Turtle coordinates thing in school. Never knew it had MIDI sequencer software

They weren’t built for live tweaking, it seems. Much like the horribly steppy PG controller for the Alpha Juno (although the Novation SL mkII could tweak it smoothly for some reason), or the MIDI buffer jam I’d get from attempting to externally control a TX81z

You raise a good point. I have a CZ5000 somewhere... i wonder if this will work to replace the up/down buttons.
Its always going to sound like its stepping to some degree though i suspect.

My CZ-1 was really noisy. Don’t know if that was a common thing or I just had a dodgy unit
paulsdmcr.bsky.social
Yep. It was quite frustrating to use. Some great sounds but it was very toylike

When I was 10 or 11 I had a Casio brochure full of big photos of the CZ range (being modelled by members of The Human League), and they were my dream synths. Especially the 5000 & 1000, with all those buttons I found so mysterious. All I had was the diminutive SK-1
paulsdmcr.bsky.social
This is a clone that might actually fix a big problem with the original CZ-1: live tweaking the parameters wasn’t really possible due to only having up & down buttons to step through them. The Parameters dial on this suggests an improved method

I refuse to believe the new Behringer clone of the Casio CZ-1 is any good until they get Vince Clarke to recreate Breath Of Life with a bunch of them
