Hi Bluesky! Proud to be in the PA Senate working for—and with—the people of Pennsylvania for safe streets, freedom of movement, housing for all, care for all, fully resourced public schools, true justice in our systems, respect and dignity for workers, and a healthy, livable climate. Let’s do it.
When we come together to ensure that all people have what they need to be safe in the face of addiction, we can build safer, healthier, and more connected communities where those who are struggling can recover and shape their futures.

New legislation would require all Pennsylvania high schools to stock naloxone, the opioid-reversing drug
If the bill becomes law, Pennsylvania would be one of just a few states in the U.S. that requires high schools to have naloxone on hand in case of overdose.

SB 1054 would ensure every school has opioid antagonists, like naloxone, onsite, and that members of the school community have the opportunity to be trained on how to properly administer these medications to someone experiencing an opioid overdose.

Penn student group partners with Pa. senators to introduce legislation mandating naloxone in schools
The bill was introduced in partnership with students in Penn Government and Politics Association’s Forum for Legislative Action.

In the midst of the far-reaching opioid epidemic, communities deserve ready access to all the tools available to keep each other safe and healthy. I’m proud to co-sponsor new harm reduction legislation with Senator Tartaglione, which was made possible by brilliant student leaders in Philadelphia.
Diwali offers all of us occasion to reflect on the struggles of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. Grateful to Senator Greg Rothman for collaborating on this legislation, and to @governor.pa.gov for signing it into law.
Pennsylvania was the first state in the country to do so—but not the last! This year, it’s a joy to see other states officially recognize Diwali as part of their acknowledgments of the heritage and contributions of our diverse Asian American communities.
Happy Diwali! Tonight, more than a billion people around the world will celebrate this festival of light and connection, including millions across the U.S. and hundreds of thousands here in PA.

I was proud to introduce and pass legislation to recognize Diwali as a holiday in PA.
The world we are working to build is inclusive, resourced, and welcoming. The government we need is responsive to its constituents and supports them with investments in housing, transit, clean energy, and dignity for workers. It will take all of us working together to win it.
Philly showed up in full force for #NOKINGS! In communities across our country, power belongs to the people. We are saying NO to authoritarianism, NO to secret police (check out the signs from our immigrant solidarity training last week!), and NO to support for a genocide.

Today, October 20, is the LAST DAY to register to vote for the November 4, 2025 General Election! You can register to vote or update your registration to your new name, address, or party affiliation at vote.pa.gov.
This year, we celebrate in the midst of great pain in our community, too. As we see masked federal agents divide families and sow fear in our neighborhoods, we hold tight to the knowledge that together we can keep each other safe.
This weekend I was proud to join Asian Americans United and communities across Philadelphia for the 30th year of the Mid-Autumn Festival in our vibrant Chinatown! Events like this show our city at our best—many cultures, generations, and more coming together in hope and connection!
Academic freedom has been under attack for years, and the funding compact follows in those footsteps.

Proud of the members of the Penn community and my colleagues in state government who are standing up against Trump's attacks on higher ed.

State legislators move to introduce bill blocking Penn from signing White House funding compact
The Oct. 3 memo condemned the compact as “another attempt” by the Trump administration to pressure universities “to comply with its political agenda.”

People returning from incarceration deserve support, connection, and resources as they work to rebuild their lives. HOMECOMING is a space for anyone justice-impacted, whether you recently returned home or have been back for years.

Don’t miss out - and help spread the word by resharing this post!
On Saturday, November 8th, my office is proud to host HOMECOMING: A Day for Justice-Impacted Philadelphians, in partnership with the Philadelphia Corporation for the Aging and the city’s Division of Reentry.

May this Yom Kippur help to carry forth tikkun olam: the drive to repair the world, first within the universes of our own souls and then outward and forward in the new year.
Tonight, families throughout the commonwealth will begin their services and fasts for Yom Kippur—a holy time for reflection, repentance, and renewal. My staff and I wish all who are observing a meaningful fast. Tzom kal!

The Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence, a network of county programs across PA, serves more than 3,000 victims each day. In Philadelphia, nearly 10,000 calls were made to the city hotline in 2024 alone.

We must pass a budget that ensures these doors to care stay open.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month—a time to bring attention to the cycle of power and control that affects millions. Intervention requires resources and community care, yet survivor-serving agencies are facing cuts as a result of PA's budget impasse.
