We hosted two Friendsgivings to reach more than 300 households throughout Philly this year! I’m so grateful to the volunteers, partners, and neighbors who make it all possible. May we continue to work together for a bountiful world where everyone has the food, shelter, and community they need. 🧡

The passage of the 2025-26 PA state budget not only brings relief to our communities but makes headway against the ongoing affordability crisis. Yet there are many ways in which this budget falls short.

When the world comes to Philly next year in 2026, it will be a worker from UNITEHERE Philly who holds the door. Our city's prosperity depends on their labor. Solidarity with them now and forever.

Proud to join UNITEHERE Philly Local 274 on the picket line today at the Wyndham! These courageous workers are calling for family-sustaining wages, increased staffing, and benefits that let them care for their families with the same devotion and attention that they care for all who visit Philly.

What an honor to be included in Philly Mag's 150 Most Influential People! The elevation of Whole-Home Repairs nationwide means more families will have a home they can feel safe in. The program is a collective achievement that took a commonwealth and with whom I share this recognition.

In the midst of the far-reaching opioid epidemic, communities deserve ready access to all the tools available to keep each other safe and healthy. I’m proud to co-sponsor new harm reduction legislation with Senator Tartaglione, which was made possible by brilliant student leaders in Philadelphia.

Happy Diwali! Tonight, more than a billion people around the world will celebrate this festival of light and connection, including millions across the U.S. and hundreds of thousands here in PA.

I was proud to introduce and pass legislation to recognize Diwali as a holiday in PA.

Philly showed up in full force for #NOKINGS! In communities across our country, power belongs to the people. We are saying NO to authoritarianism, NO to secret police (check out the signs from our immigrant solidarity training last week!), and NO to support for a genocide.

This weekend I was proud to join Asian Americans United and communities across Philadelphia for the 30th year of the Mid-Autumn Festival in our vibrant Chinatown! Events like this show our city at our best—many cultures, generations, and more coming together in hope and connection!

This Thursday, join the District Attorney's Office and local community leaders for a town hall on the possible deployment of the National Guard in Philly. As Trump intensifies his efforts to divide us, we must stand strong in our commitment to each other and to our democracy.

SEPTA’s diversion of capital dollars to support operations will allow the agency to restore service throughout our region, bringing crucial relief to the riders who depend on it every day. But this is not a funding solution. This is a measure of last resort.
September 9, 2025 at 3:15 PM
Our schools are experiencing the ramifying effects of SEPTA cuts. I checked in with some students and workers in my district to talk about what a lack of transit funding means for them. Our fight for fully funded and affordable transit across Pennsylvania continues, together.

A gorgeous day to stand with Philly's mighty union family. Working people are fighting as hard as ever for their labor to be respected and justly compensated, for the dignity they deserve on the job and in their lives.

Solidarity with workers here and everywhere. ✊🏾
