Philly is home to a long history of trans activism and the fight for freedom from oppression. From the Dewey’s sit-ins in 1965 to the creation of the “More Color More Pride” flag that honors our beloved Black and brown trans community, we keep fighting!

Fortunately, we will have another budget in just a few months. I will be ready, and the people I represent will be ready, to fight for all that we deserve.

We need real plans. We need a vision for lower utility bills, clean energy, and homes that are safe and healthy. We need reliable, accessible transit in every county to connect our neighbors with jobs, with education, and with each other. We need housing for all of us, without exception.

A basic requirement of government is to support its people in meeting their needs. As cost of living continues to rise throughout our country, our people deserve more investment from their government than what we delivered today—which is why I voted no.

And the withdrawal of our commonwealth from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative—the only meaningful tool Pennsylvania has had to lower energy costs, reduce deadly emissions, and chart a path toward a clean energy future.

No money for public transit—even after tens of thousands of Pennsylvanians demanded that their representatives prioritize their mobility. No meaningful action on housing policy—even in the midst of a rapidly worsening crisis.

When the world comes to Philly next year in 2026, it will be a worker from UNITEHERE Philly who holds the door. Our city's prosperity depends on their labor. Solidarity with them now and forever.

As your senator, I remain focused on meeting the needs of Pennsylvanians with a budget that invests in all of us. We deserve a city where we can move freely through our neighborhoods and arrive home safely at the end of the day. Where we leave no one behind.
