To be clear: deportations to increase cultural homogeneity is the text book definition of ethnic cleansing. Demands that come even close to this are so far outside any democratic norm and the rule of law. What has happened to a country when this is not condemned in the strongest possible terms?

New article out in World Politcs. We analyze how different groups react to varying programs of social democratic parties. We find less trade-offs than often assumed. Generally, more left-progressive programs increase support among social democratic potentials

It was great talking about recent developments in campaign and (social) media influence at the CERIUM-FMSH summer school - and even better to learn about so many promising PhD projects on these topics. Thanks for having me in sunny Paris @rlachat.bsky.social & @rdassonneville.bsky.social!

This won't be limited to just autism. They're building the panopticon to track anyone with any "undesirable" illness. This is eugenics, full stop.

Umberto Eco once wrote that Europeans are vaccinated by centuries of conflict on their continent.

One of the most important things in today’s Europe is to call out those who doubt the efficacy of this vaccine.

We have anti-democratic forces in our midst, now is the time to stand up against them.

“If Roosevelt had told Churchill to sue for peace on any terms with Adolf Hitler and to fork over Britain’s coal reserves to the United States in exchange for no American security guarantees, it might have approximated what Trump did to Zelensky.” www.nytimes.com/2025/02/28/o...
Opinion | A Day of American Infamy
A dreadful moment for Ukraine, for the free world, for the legacy of an America that once stood for the principles of the Atlantic Charter.

Imagine that you're in an expensive foreign country and you have rent and other obligations. And all of a sudden you get a small fraction of your typical pay. The FFSP are understandably freaking out. Their posts are heartbreaking.

Black scholars argued this incessantly after the war. Britain killed 10’s of millions of Indians, Belgium enslaved and genocided the Congo, France slaughtered its Algerian subjects. Nazi Germany was the logical extension of US and European colonialism, not an aberration.

It benefits the far-right
if Nazi Germany is viewed
as an anomalous outlier
rather than an
ethno-nationalist model

No need to parse dog whistles with the advocate for Germany’s neo-Nazi party, who laments the end of Apartheid in South Africa, does sig heils in public, denigrates minorities, and proclaims that white men are inherently superior.

Yes, he is. We don’t need to ask anymore, we need to deal with it.
The 14 flags at 1:14 might be a coincidence, and it might not be. Utterly terrifying if it’s not.
Ucrania, Palestina, libertad, democracia, comunidad, bienestar, solidaridad.

All these women who turned in January 6 terrorists are in danger tonight
Amantes de las normas que se dejan aplastar por la normalidad, desde tiempos inmemoriales.
Stupidity and social media. There are multiple, more accurate explanations and accounts (anomie, pendulum, inflation...); but TBH, I think it all boils down to those two.
I was 24 when i worked on the Obama campaign in 2008. In that summer and fall there was so much hope. Now I'm a 40 and a parent and trying to square how went went from that moment to this one in a span of 16 years. Being middle aged and completely disillusioned is a rough look.
