This sucks. Anyone know what it means for the museum, Ashfall, the roadside salvage team, etc?
It's over.

Despite the fact that the academic council recommended against it, despite the fact that the program brought in more tuition than it cost, and despite the fact that Nebraskans need & deserve this expertise, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences will be cut.

BREAKING: ‘This hurts’: UNL eliminates 4 programs despite faculty, student pleas
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln eliminates the Earth and atmospheric sciences 8-0, educational administration 7-1, statistics 7-1, textiles, merchandising and fashion design 7-1 programs.

Remember folks: if you have any small amount of artistic talent, any sex appeal, or can make your friends laugh, the richest man on earth is crying screaming throwing up because he can’t be you.

I want to plug the phenomenal Aquí en Chicago exhibition at the Chicago History Museum! It couldn’t have opened at a more challenging time, but the 4+ years of committed community work that led to this show is profoundly apparent.

since we're doing USPS discourse again, a reminder of what Dems should be saying
"the USPS is a miracle. it's in the constitution. for the price of a single stamp you can send a letter across the country, from Hawaii to Maine. Trump is trying to take that away from you. He's attacking Christmas cards and wedding invitations. It's un-American and it has to stop."

Lotions and moisturizers are great if the goal is to put a slimy film on your skin. But they don’t fix the underlying problem that the rH is like negative 20. What I actually want is a giant damp sponge to press against while I sleep…

As I have been lamenting for years, the clear erroneous standard for District Court findings of fact has been rendered null & void by this Court.
Justice Kagan in dissent:
“We are a higher court than the District Court, but we are not a better one when it comes to making such a fact-based decision.”

The USG has a new explanation on why they (now admittedly) intentionally killed 2 shipwrecked men. It does not pass the laws-of-war smell test

Worse for Hegseth, NYT: "Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth approved contingency plans for what to do if an initial strike left survivors."

1859: Abolitionist John Brown is the 1st American executed for treason. His crime? Freeing the enslaved

And the 2nd? Aaron Dwight Stevens, 29yo. Served Brown during the attempted slave revolt at Harpers Ferry, VA

A stark reminder that legality is not always a measure of justice, but power.

As if the world weren't harsh enough for young people, I see someone started the 'accommodations for disabilities are rubbish' discourse.

Maybe we could skip this ritual for fecking once. Just get over yourself if you're brooding over a student getting a quiet space or a computer to take an exam.
