The captain on my flight just requested a sarcastic round of applause for their second-in-command, and we need a new season of The Rehearsal studying whether that kind of teasing is good or bad for flight safety.

America, you've spoken loud and clear: you do not like being stabbed in the dick with an ice pick. But what if stabbing yourself in the dick with an ice pick is the only way to fight, idk, climate change or whatever?

I'm in a punk rock community that inexplicably loves Malort so I've drank more of this shit than I care to remember. I charitably refer to it tasting like someone spilled nail polish remover in an ashtray. I had pumpkin spice Malort once, which was even goddamn worse.
Today’s That’s Marvelous newsletter is up featuring some thoughts about Judaism and community and nü-metal and Malört. Lots of umlauts this week. Read it all: www.thatsmarvelousnewsletter.com/162-malort-a...

I read that review in like 2008 at work (I didn’t have a lot to do during the downturn) and was so amused by it, I went home and watched that movie. It’s… indeed not great. But Reiner is such a real one, he took it in stride and this clip is so funny. What an absolute gem. RIP
One of my all-time favorite clips of Rob Reiner, from his Friars Club Roast in 2000, as he reads aloud Roger Ebert's infamous scathing review of his movie North. The man had an amazing sense of humor about himself. RIP.

One possible flaw in Bari Weiss's plan to remake CBS News in her image is that she is a bad and boring journalist and nobody actually likes her.
Major advertisers appeared to sit out a new CBS News town hall telecast Saturday, moderated by Bari Weiss and featuring an interview with Erika Kirk.

Lack of Madison Avenue support could challenge the viability of the format, which Weiss wants to expand

It's fitting that the cover on AI mindlessly apes an earlier creation and also displaces workers while elevating Silicon Valley plutocrats.

I know this distinction is for the person (or people in this case) that made the most news this year and it's not like an award of nobility or praise. But Time can still eat a huge bag of ass for this. AI is fucking dogshit and we're all going to find out how much it sucks when it crashes soon.

It is an absolutely delightful irony that the richest man in the world is universally acknowledged to be a huge fucking loser who not a single living person envies in any way at all
Remember folks: if you have any small amount of artistic talent, any sex appeal, or can make your friends laugh, the richest man on earth is crying screaming throwing up because he can’t be you.

#GenerativeAI imagery isn't just an embarrassing, amateur-hour plagiarism machine and middle-finger to artists and creatives, it's yet another digital tool used by bad actors to harass and abuse women and children. And if you're using it, you're contributing.
NEW: An AI image generator startup left its database exposed online, unsecured and accessible to anyone.

The "overwhelming majority" of the files inside contained nudity, with images appearing to contain children and explicit face-swaps

I wrote about why cutting Kill Bill in half might have cost Uma Thurman an Oscar, and how the new 4 1/2-hour version makes whole the greatest performance of her career.
