I turned 45 and I started getting ads for "Nordic" jewellery and clothing and stuff - the algorithm clearly thought i was a good prospect for the angry-middle-aged-man-to-fascist pathway. Which kind-of cheered me up as it had got me so badly wrong.

I have to say I love an immersive long-winded description or a pointless digression - I loved Kim Stanley Robinson's having 2 characters walking through a tunnel for 30 pages, for instance - but even I thought the LoTR books could have done with a good edit.

I have, in fact, encountered several anonymous accounts over the last 5-6 months who have given out bad tear gas advice and I suspect that they may have done so on purpose.

Kensington Library used to have a frieze saying something like "he smiled and produced an egg from behind her ear" in 12" high gold lettering around the mezzanine balcony. I've never been able to find out why or to what purpose.

Yes years ago I read about someone whose whole Kindle library was deleted because she breached T&Cs by logging in from a third country. It kind-of screwed the whole Kindle/spotify/streaming thing for me. Although Bandcamp is good for remote downloads and the artists get more money too, so I use it.
