To our patriotic civil servants: this evil cannot last.

We need you. And we will keep fighting for you.

Breaks my heart. I don't know how these people directing this and executing this sleep at night.
In Virginia, when his daughter learned to count to 10 before she turned 2, he prayed she would grow up to work for NASA as a scientist.

He wonders what his three-month detainment has done to his kids, both U.S. citizens. They sometimes refuse to eat now, and his daughter no longer sleeps through the night. When they ask where Dada is, E doesn't know what to tell them.

The first time they visited him at the detention center, his son, a toddler, climbed atop the table and pounded his small fists into the glass that separated them. "Open it!" he screamed. "Open it!"

Afterward, H asked his wife not to bring them back for a while.

Now, his mind returns every day to what an investigator told him just after the arrest.

"What will happen to my wife and kids?" H asked.

"Don't worry," he said the agent replied. If the U.S. government sent him back to Afghanistan, it would send them, too.

I'm a little shocked that the Yale Journal on Regulation, whose Notice & Comment Blog I really enjoy, is running a 'symposium' on administrative law that so far is nothing but poorly cited opinion pieces.

"infusing"?

What illegal repurposing of funds is the administration doing to help the Republicans continue the shutdown?

We need to know about military pay too.

But great piece. Thank you for doing what you're doing.

If they're not ready to give a fulsome opinion on what the law is, they can simply leave lower court orders in place like they do for almost every legal dispute that takes place in this country.

The other thing is that Barrett and others are not acknowledging that they don't have to be giving this relief at all. Emergency relief like this is supposed to be an extraordinary remedy yet they're doling it out in high profile cases with no consideration of factual findings in lower courts.

I feel like I'm constantly seeing things like the NVIDIA's StyleGAN from thispersondoesnotexist.com. Where I go "wow, that's weird and incredible they can do that. I bet I can use this in a presentation or something."

And then I can never think of a situation where I would actually use it.

That's what I keep coming back to with AI video. I don't disagree the technology is impressive, but I just don't see what the end result is that people would want to spend their time watching.

Vought, we are told, is a pious man who never curses. Ok! Not a word about his Christian nationalism; instead, one of the most influential political platforms in the world chooses to perpetuate the number one fallacy about the modern Right: That this is all about “small government.”

a hit & run driver
going west on Bauer Dr at Russett Rd
(toward Earle B. Wood MS)
hit & injured a child (11/M)
crossing properly in a "midblock marked crosswalk."
Police (MCP3230006J) did not find anyone at fault.
Satellite image of a T intersection of a two-lane street with a bigger two-lane street. Two of the three crosswalks are marked. The west crosswalk across the bigger two-lane street, which is one of the two marked crosswalks, has a pedestrian median refuge. There is a red X in the north part of this marked crosswalk, indicating the location of the crash. There is a red arrow pointing west toward the red X, indicating the path of the driver. There is a blue arrow from the curb ramp pointing south toward the red X, indicating the path of the child, approaching from the driver's right.

We must better prioritize the safety and well-being of pedestrians and bicyclists, especially our children. We have lost too many on our roads.

This is a time for our community to mourn together and support the families and students impacted by this tragedy.

"He charged Trump for official acts he took as president." is straightforwardly false with respect to the classified documents case in any event; it was charged in FL as retention, not in DC as removal or mishandling precisely because it was charging his personal, not his official acts

Between things like this and their extensive use of Signal and personal phone messaging, I have a feeling this will be the least documented administration in US History, except for William Henry Harrison.

Q: Do you agree that the mayor of Chicago and governor of Illinois should be in prison?

MIKE JOHNSON: Should they be in prison? I'm not the attorney general. I'm not following the day to day on that
