AI grading assignments is an abdication of duty by faculty and a disservice to students. Morgan rocks. This is a shame.

Meaningful feedback is key to learning. Relationships with faculty drive engagement.
Morgan State University is one of the first colleges in the country to create its own sovereign artificial intelligence system. The university will soon run entirely on the AI, called Obsidian, which will advise students and grade assignments.

Morgan State could one day run entirely on AI
The historically Black college may be one of the few universities in the country, perhaps even the world, that has its own sovereign AI.

Love being the parent of a kid with autism in 2025.
The story told here--one where anecdata suggests agency and autonomy have run amok and nameless activists are to blame--certainly rhymes with the NYT's disastrous panic about trans kids. Then you realize it's literally being written by the same author.
Autism rates have increased in recent decades, but the reasons are more complicated than what Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has presented. Hear more on today's episode of "The Daily." nyti.ms/480eqtm

Shout out to the Republican Jewish Coalition, the ADL, and all their friends for sufficiently destroying what antisemitism means.
This is fucking horrifying.

And a chunk of that could come from School Police coming out of the BPD budget (like it does in virtually every other urban district in the country) rather than the BCPSS budget!
Baltimore’s decades-old struggle to get kids to school on time could be solved with a network of yellow buses, vans and cars that would transport 35,000 kids in one trip.

And it would cost Baltimore City Public Schools less than 5% of its budget. www.thebanner.com/education/k-...
School buses for every Baltimore student seemed impossible — until now

Very rare to see someone lay out so explicitly that they do not consider "never again" to be a universalist creed. I don't know how people who talk like this can stand to look themselves in the mirror.
I'm struck by this clip of former Obama speechwriter Sarah Hurwitz saying Holocaust education has backfired in part because people Palestinians as victims: "They think the lesson of the Holocaust is…you fight the big powerful people hurting the weak people."

When researchers look at this in 10 years I severely hope that they don’t blame low attendance among Hispanic students on COVID or some “prioritization of school” racist BS & call it what it is.

A reign of terror made our neighbors afraid to send their 4-year-olds to school.
My son’s school is probably 60% Hispanic. Pre-K is 75-80%.

Admission prioritizes low-income & siblings at the school. Since there’s only one Pre-K class we planned to go elsewhere.

A month after the deadline, we got a spot. Feels likely my neighbors are afraid to send their kids to school.
Over 20,000 students stayed home from school Monday in Charlotte amid ICE raids, representing 15% of enrollment

The district is nearly one-third Hispanic, per WBTV

Almost everyone with a high level of racial resentment tended to vote for Trump in the 2024 election, regardless of educational attainment. Conversely, those with a low racial resentment score tended to support Harris, whether they had a college degree or not.

Amon white people, the correlation between racial resentment and their vote is much, much stronger than between educational attainment and political alignment.

In fact, if you control for racial resentment, education polarization basically disappears.

This is the first time this season where the issue looks more like the players don’t have fluidity with each other rather than the system lacking adequate planning.

Still an issue, but a different one!

One thing the NYC mayoral race underscored for me is how easily the phrase "I don't feel safe" can be weaponized. It's an argument I would hesitate ever to use again, even for a good cause. I hope we can all agree that we have the right to BE safe. Maybe we should leave it at that.
