099. Mark Germino and the Sluggers - Rex Bob Lowenstein

This #vinyl is a promo single that I've kept because the song is about a DJ at an independent format radio station who gets kicked off the air after they bring in a consultant. Great tune & also good production. Album's good, too!

It wasn't that long ago that I learned that Joe was one of the backing voices yelling the Spanish translation on "Should I Stay Or Should I Go?" In fact, it was Joe alongside Strummer & the Puerto Rican engineer who translated the lyrics.

But he's a massive talent in his own right.

Reason played: My friend Chad and I were drunk and this song has an incredible 2am drunk vibe.

I had seen this zoetrope #vinyl (how do you view these, anyway?) and thought "Cool." Then one day months later after I'd gotten way into the album I *needed* to have this. 😄 Ah, consumerism. Great record, though.

093. The Fixx - Reach the Beach

Glad I own the #vinyl for this because you can't find it on streaming. 😐 I noticed long ago that the band has either scrubbed or re-recorded most of their back catalogue. Up to them for sure, all power to the artist. But sometimes I just wanna hear those songs.

Listening to PinkPantheress now (47) and you know what? This kinda fucks. Quick dancey beats, a little retro but that's the charm.

Love Erasure. This is their third single, but it's still one of my favorites of theirs. I knew of Vince's links to Depeche Mode & Yaz/Yazoo and so this was a slam dunk for me. The Victim single is my wife's she's a fan, too. ☺️

His bass is the first musical instrument you hear on the album, slowly fading in at the start of "I Wanna Be Adored." Such an iconic & funky rhythm section. I can imagine the rest of the Roses are gutted. 😔
