089 & 090. Erasure - Oh L'amour & Victim of Love #vinyl singles

Love Erasure. This is their third single, but it's still one of my favorites of theirs. I knew of Vince's links to Depeche Mode & Yaz/Yazoo and so this was a slam dunk for me. The Victim single is my wife's she's a fan, too. ☺️

087 & 088. The English Beat - Special Beat Service

Last of their Record Store Day reissues, sweet red & blue #vinyl. They did such a great job with these. Not overboard, just solid remasters & cool vinyl. Oh, and brilliant music. ☺️

I don’t think I cued in until just now that it’s numbered. 😄 002413

084, 085, & 086. The Stone Roses 20th anniversary box set

Rest in peace, Mani.

His bass is the first musical instrument you hear on the album, slowly fading in at the start of "I Wanna Be Adored." Such an iconic & funky rhythm section. I can imagine the rest of the Roses are gutted. 😔

082 & 083. The English Beat - Wha'ppen?

The "experimental" second album. Not "bad" but not as tight as IJCSI or SBS in hewing to genre/style. Wha'ppen ranges far & wide to its credit. Love Doors of Your Heart and Walk Away. Another Record Store Day expanded edition reissue! 2 tones of green #vinyl.

079, 080 & 081. - The English Beat - I Just Can't Stop It

I've got the 1982 #vinyl on I.R.S. records and then the new expanded clear vinyl re-release with remixes, dubs, and live tracks from 1982. Very much enjoyed having to listen to this record twice. 😎

We interrupt our countup to mention the completion of one (1) IKEA Kallax container shelf. 😄 We're at #79 but there were a couple that I listened to that were new or out of order.

We now return you to Your Older Brother's #vinyl countup. Please keep your hands and arms inside the car at all times.

078. The Sandals - The Endless Summer

I don't recall many of the songs here being in the movie aside from the title track, but that one's a classic. Great film, too, iconic poster (seen here). (CW for racism tho) Lots of "motorcycle as a sound effect" on this album, did not care for that. 😂

077. EMF - I Believe 12" single

Probably this #vinyl came in when I was Music Director of the college radio station. I probably assumed it wasn't of value to add (I was probably right 😄), and I probably kept it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

076. Electric Light Orchestra - ELO's Greatest Hits

Definite greatest hits comp here. Got this #vinyl when I was probably 10 years old? 😂 Pre-cassettes & CDs. (Well, cassettes were available, I didn't have a cassette player for another couple/few years)

074 & 075 - Electric Light Orchestra - Out of the Blue

Love the song Jungle in addition to the other hits, like Mr. Blue Sky. I wrote about this album on my blog a long time ago! 😂 yourolderbrothersmusicblog.wordpress.com/2011/10/26/w...

073. Richard Edwards - Sling Shot To Heaven

Richard re-recorded some songs he had written before Lemon Cotton Candy Sunset & put them here. This is grey semi-translucent #vinyl.

072. Richard Edwards - Ghost Electricity/Vampire Draw

I subscribed to Richard's Patreon for a couple years. He's one of the most generous musicians I've encountered, putting his music on sale a lot, releasing limited editions & songs to the Patreon subscribers. It means a lot to have him see us.

071. Richard Edwards - Sings the Margot & the Nuclear So And So's Songbook in Quarantine (Volume 1)

My pick from this one is "Your Sister's House" but there's a lot of good songs here. Very cool splatter #vinyl. I'd link to the music but I can't find it anywhere online. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

070. Richard Edwards - The Soft Ache and the Moon

More beautiful music. "Pink Lightning" and "Inchyra Blue" are my picks off this one. Very cool blue splatter #vinyl, too.

Post a perfect album from 1989.

069. Richard Edwards - Verdugo

Nice.

Probably the record I know & love best by Richard, it contains the newest song to make my personal "top 10 favorite of all time" list, "Olive Oyl." Released in 2018, I thought I bought a signed red #vinyl copy but it's clearly Neapolitan. 😂 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

067 & 068. Richard Edwards - Lemon Cotton Candy Sunset

It's one album but it's on two 45rpm #vinyl discs. Great record, his first solo after the Margot & the Nuclear So & So's years. He's got a lot over on his Bandcamp page, link in the 🧵.

Cool new feature on TIDAL! They've partnered with Tune My Music to transfer music from other services! I used Tune My Music when I moved to TIDAL from Spotify a few years back and it works great. But now it's built into TIDAL in the Playlist menu! Love that they're making it easier to move. ☺️

065 & 066. Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark - Crush 40th anniversary vinyl

We interrupt our regularly scheduled alphabetical countup to bring you the just-delivered Crush vinyl from OMD! This is a gorgeous deluxe clear #vinyl set with a 2nd LP of demos & remixes. Highly recommended.

064. Duran Duran - Rio

Well loved #vinyl, lots of pops & skips. Probably still my favorite DD album. I love the arpeggiator on Hungry Like the Wolf, created with the Roland Jupiter 8 as seen in a "Classic Albums" episode (see in 🧵). Great bass on this album, too.

063. DOMi & JD BECK - Not Tight

Picked this up after seeing them on the Coachella feed. I find a lot of new (to me) music that way. I try to clear my calendar for that first weekend and just bounce around, staying on a channel that captures my attention. This did that. 😄 (Also, it is very tight)

062. Devo - New Traditionalists

Devo was renowned for their early videos, and that's how I got into this album. Our local PBS station KBDI had a show called FM-TV/Teletunes and that's where I saw the videos (linked in 🧵). So I bought the #vinyl and it still sounds really good! 😄

061. Devo - Freedom Of Choice

Albums used to have inner sleeves that advertised their merch. What a wonderful time. ☺️
