A little optimism for your walk up music today. The days are getting just a little bit longer. Seeing a spot of sun on the morning commute now makes all the difference. ☀️😊🎶

I made a bombass vegan bolognese sauce for my pasta. Incorporated some home roasted tomatoes. One of those meals that feel like absolute royal luxury.

A Complex Sister Relationship: Refuge or Rejection
Reading How to Commit a Decolonial Murder is a bit like reading a diary you have permission to access. One feels the act a violation due to the raw intimacy spread out on the pages. Opening with a …

The other thing I really appreciate about this book is the hopefulness, actual concrete suggestions. We don't have to live at the mercy big money tech.
Friends if you aren’t familiar with Cory Doctorow or you love your authors and their books, the chapter on technofeudalism alone makes this book worth your time. #Booksky #Books #audiobooks

Adding a little mood music this time. I’m thinking Miles Davis / jazz.
What would be better?

I understand this is a game and I’m about to reference a book…
Reminds me of Grace D. Li’s Portrait of a Thief: a group of long term friends are recruited on the cusp of college graduation to steal back Chinese artifacts from international museums. It’s a great read and never gets enough love.
Johannesburg’s Nyamakop Studios turns African artifact repatriation into a bold heist game.

Protagonist Nomali and a crew of ordinary citizens reclaim 70 real-life artifacts taken during the colonial era.

The 30-person dev team includes people from Zimbabwe, Ghana, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Tanzania.

Simon Teen has a great set of books you can read for FREE in February. I especially recommend Boy in the Black Suit (my favorite Jason Reynolds title) and These Violent Delights - a Romeo / Juliet retelling in 1920's Shanghai with a side of serial killer. So good!

IOWA!

There is a hearing today on a new bill that would ban partnerships between public schools and public libraries (based on a Des Moines partnership), as well as ban bookmobiles from schools if students are allow to borrow books from it.
