This is accurate. Trump has not changed course. He is trying to contain political damage. That's it. There is not pivot. There is no shift at this point. Past experience shows the "new tone," if you can call it that, will be temporary.

personally, the fact that children were protesting their detention and violence, yet there's nothing about not putting people in jail, is pretty bad. people are in detention and lost.
So...nothing on a reduction in funding, nothing on reducing detention, nothing on, idk, firing people?

The auditor of the state of Ohio, who is running to be the state's next attorney general, wrote an oped this morning that the Columbus Dispatch published on how Renee Good is to blame for her death.

The subheadline alone is already chilling.

The officer who shot Alex worked for DHS for 8 years. The officer who shot Renee worked for DHS for over 10 years. Both are considered “highly trained.”

The problem isn’t "training." DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity. We must MELT ICE and dismantle DHS.

Message to fellow journalists (and anyone claiming to be one): do not “police-involved shooting” executions in broad daylight.

Obfuscating language like that is completely journalistically unnecessary and, even worse, sanitizes reality.

Words have meaning. Use the right ones.

It's not incompetence: Patel and Bongino know truth is irrelevant, and all that matters is what people believe to be true. Research shows that whatever people hear FIRST is what they will believe going forward, regardless if they hear corrected information later. They shape reality deliberately.
not surprising and yet still jarring to read ex-FBI agents describing how Kash Patel and Bongino reacted to Charlie Kirk's murder while running the agency. truly the content creator administration/podcast govt www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Even presuming this is true, possessing a gun is completely legal if he had the appropriate permit. They're not even claiming he pulled it or brandished it, just that he had one. That's no reason to execute someone.

So, I moderated a local history panel last weekend. An organizer just sent me a "summary" to approve. They uploaded the audio to some AI, which fabricated an outline and "pull quotes." The quotes are fake. No one on the panel said any of that.

It had the full audio and STILL made up quotes.

Willie's case is a perfect example of how absurd Ohio sentencing is. As it stands right now, he will serve more time for robbery than other people serve for murder. He will be 81 years old when he gets out of prison.
