They did Salieri dirty….

Well they could improve on the 80s movie by making it more historically accurate. It was a fantastic movie but took major liberties with Mozart’s history.

Honestly, I was at a bar last night and the room was about 80% radiant goddesses dressed to the nines, and really underwhelmingly dressed awkward men. As a non-slob, I would have had zero trouble finding a conversation, but alas, I spent most of it just drawing, as I do.

The narcissism people like that have is shocking, honestly. To me it’s not some kind of manic insanity, but rather someone’s incredibly weird attempt to control others.

Your question is about morality, not behavioral modification. Ask your minister.

And to further elucidate, fascists can only wield political power, or rather what is given to them. They don’t build, they raid and then it all blows up. They are a political supernova, and end cycle, they never start anything lasting. They do not build, they steal and destroy.

The locus of control is the button in that case, btw. So it’s not true instructional control, it’s just wielding a source of it indefinitely without significant pairing with the operant.

You have accidentally brought up my most specialized sub-expertise, electrical stimulation as an aversive. I can’t go into my background in it because of privacy ethics, but that is correct, and all it teaches in a behavioral sense is compliance with whoever holds the button.

I mostly left ABA for exactly that reason. In my case, I got the desired results very quickly, but my methods were intentionally passive, so it never looked like anything was happening, externally. People would focus on details rather than any big picture. My results were real, and big.

Every essay can be shorter.

Any punishment that is not a consequence of the problem behavior is mostly pretty worthless in behavioral modification. Reinforcement has similar rules, but milder consequences for not following them. Use reinforcement generously, punishment sparingly and preferably not at all.

Additionally, authoritarian types are super bad at knowing the difference between compliance and concealment, so they perceive their own lack of witnessing “x behavior” as it not happening at all. Harsh punishment of any kind produces subversive attempts to meet that need or desire, not compliance.

Exactly. It’s just bullying at the end of the day.

I met a cool lady at it. My mom was there, it was great. One CHUD drove close to everyone really aggressively in his truck, and everyone laughed as I walked next to the car and made “vroom vroom!” sounds really loud with my voice. An old lady on a scooter laughed really hard at it.

I deeply love his “Nazi lives don’t matter” banner.
nodechomsky.bsky.social
It means you are sympathetic to Trump and don’t want to admit it. You can’t opt out these days, Nazis force politics into your daily life because it’s the only sphere they have any ability to operate in. A fascist isn’t going to help you repair a tire or pick up your garbage.

(Me, to a room of hundreds of kids chanting “sixes and sevens”)

“We all love a good chant folks, I am personally a huge fan of both those numbers, but this is a really small room, and there are a lot of you, so…”

One thing I really like about Gen Alpha (so far, anyway) is their sense of trollish irony. If you have trouble following them, that’s the point, that’s the joke. If you need to adapt to it at all, just co-opt the absurdity with your own. I give very dry Newhart-grade responses, personally.

Apparently the kids had an in-joke based on the idea that no one has ever seen my hairline. My haircut is such that you wouldn’t see my hairline with any regularity, so that was the joke. Good kids, that’s solidly funny to me.
nodechomsky.bsky.social
For about a month the kids at my school would randomly ask to see my “hairline” without further explanation. I originally though it was some joke about me having male pattern baldness or something, which would be weird because I don’t.

Eventually, I found out there was a joke…

I look better with crow’s feet, honestly. But I am also shocked by how young my face still looks. I have very lucky genetics on the hair, as I don’t have anyone who ever lost theirs in my family.

I am a behaviorist, and even if someone thinks it is ok (I don’t think it is), the reality is that it doesn’t ‘work’ in any long term sense or accomplish what people think it does when they do it.

The base state of a narcissist is that they are unwilling to see the perspective of others, you are right, they assume everyone else thinks like they do; so they project their own cynicism on earnest choices by others because they assume the other person is secretly just as cynical.
