I know HDRI's are like a dime a dozen now, but I still have some freebies you can use here, with a few night ones that might provide some interesting lighting/reflections. Something like 75 in all. www.noahwitchell.com/freebies
Can't say enough good things about Pro Particles for Blender. The developer took it from a few geo nodes setups to a juggernaut of an addon for particles. Super responsive too - I've suggested a few things to implement and they're always there by the next version! superhivemarket.com/products/pro...

I found a texture importer for C4D that let's you bring in maps as complete materials for most render engines. If you've spent any amount of time trying to convert an Octane file to Corona or a Redshift file back to Standard, you KNOW how much time this saves: www.thegreatsummit.com/product/tgs-...
TGS Texture Manager - C4D import PBR | The Great Summit
Automatic PBR texture creation and tool to store all your own materials. Support for Redshift, Octane, Arnold ect. Instant preview and organise features.

If you've ever tried to build dispersion into a shader in Cycles, you know what a pain that can be. This shader set makes it a simple plug and play solution, with really crispy caustics and thin film effects to boot!

One of the main driving factors for that is speed. Eevee is damned fast, and Cycles is only marginally slower for a look that I would consider on par with using Corona in C4D. Things that would require overnight rendering on my render machine are taking less than an hour on my workstation now.

I've been a C4D user for the last 12 years and there's a lot that I love about it, but for this job I'm on I've used it less than five times all season. I've done most everything in Blender instead and while I may not be canceling my subscription to C4D any time soon it sure feels like a sea change.

Adults want animation. Adults want comics. I have to hope that as the old guard falls away and gives way to newer generations more of those kinds of projects will get pushed and funded. We’ve seen it before and I just can’t wait to see more. An entire medium shouldn’t be relegated to one demographic

The thing that all these “Bluesky is an echo chamber” takes leave out is that most of us aren’t here for political or philosophical debates with strangers.

Mostly it’s to socialize with friends and talk shit about stupid things. Having a Nazi yelling at you doesn’t enhance that experience.

So there's not much of a 3D/motion community on here yet, huh?
