CTA's slow zone map for November:

A whopping 742ft of slow zone was removed from the Congress branch without any new sections added!
That just leaves 82% of it still restricted to 35mph or less...

The lack of urgency around fixing the Blue Line is so frustrating.

Anyone else notice an unusual number of Ventra readers being out of service in the past month? Mostly at rail stations, but I've seen both

Sometimes the secret to fixing your day is putting on tunes in a language you don't 100% understand

The answer is obvious when you think about it, but I wrote a whole blog about bike-lane clearing a couple years ago.

The answer might surprise you. Or not. We don't know you.

My FOIA life becomes easy when the DOT posts the vehicle number
Hey #bikechi friends - if you see blocked bike lanes, use 311 to submit a request.

Going to stop letting my parents plan vacation if they're going to pick places that are 80° in December. I'm going to melt

That render (#4) is depicting public space that’s already there, which Gabe Klein’s CDOT ”enhanced”

Here’s the approximate duplicate POV

Going to come out and say that I don't think anyone is going to use the green space in the middle of the four lane road
More renders ("not for distribution" lol)

I'm looking at the contract right now and it's becoming a theme that agencies are not forthcoming about increases until late in the process. The city knew this was going to cost at least $410MM in May 2024. No agency publicly said anything until September 2025.

I hope they can find someone like Michelle. She's the only board member in my public commenting experience who at least seems to care what you have to say and ACTUALLY RIDES THE SYSTEM. Rest of them are stone walls who do not follow through on their word

Emerging my call for theater companies in Chicago to do a 3-to-1 merger so they can start paying people fairly. Why continue to intentionally under resource yourself?

let's crowdsource this list of rejected housing in Chicago in 2025

@nikhunder.com also adds 1933-1939 N. Harlem Avenue, 80 homes
alderpersons declined to support these developments in 2025, effectively killing them:

1. Quarry House, Pilsen, 16 homes
2. 5500 W Devon, Edgebrook, 48 homes
3. 7728 N Sheridan, Rogers Park, 52 homes

There's a 57-home proposal in the 36th Ward, but I think that one is still being negotiated.

Hot take for me but I think all of this is fine except Class-1 (pedal assist up to 20mph) should not be age limited.

In Feb. Pam Bondi said the Epstein list was sitting on her desk. Now, in a lawsuit brought by Loevy on behalf of @jamesctobias.bsky.social, a judge has ordered the DOJ to produce the list by Jan. 6 or explain to the Court why they can't. Read the press release here: www.loevy.com/press-releas...

Ratepayers in Chicagoland have won out massively from the CEJA deal that saved 3 nuclear plants.

When wholesale prices spike, profits from Constellation are rebated. It will avg $13/mo of rebates per home next year!

Preview of whats possible from public power?

Nuclear credits a timely gift for Illinois electricity customers
ComEd customers will receive more than $800 million in credits as power markets generate more money for reactors outside of Chicago.

I haven't processed a single word of the BRT meeting because there is a little girl practicing the order of the train stops. She skipped right from Belmont to Francisco because that's where she gets off. I wished it worked that way too
